Chapter 7
A blast from the past

At this point, I was a completely new person. I broke my rules, and I did not care! The next day, Joe noticed I was different and said I had a glow on my face and my eyes and that he knew exactly what happened. I covered my face feeling bashful, and I had to admit it; it was true. Joe was happy about Andrew,

"About damn time!" He said laughing with malice and I blushed. Then his smile faded away. "No..." he whispered.

"What?" I asked Joe, my heart racing with fear.

"It's Alice, Andrew's ex-wife," Joe explained, and my heart stopped. "She's been trying to contact him for weeks, but he hasn't responded. Now she's here, demanding to see him."

I felt a lump in my throat. Andrew had never mentioned she was trying to reach him, but from Joe's reaction, it seemed like she was bad news.

"What should we do?" I asked, feeling helpless.

"Don't worry, I'll handle it," Joe assured me. "You just go home and tell Andrew what happened."

I nodded, still feeling uneasy, and left the bar passing by her, giving that woman a stern look. As I walked home, my mind was racing with questions. Why she was there and why was she so desperate to see Andrew? Was she the reason he had been so quiet and thoughtful? And most importantly, was she a threat to our relationship?

I started feeling hyperventilated as I ran down the street taking shortcuts until I got home. Andrew was working on the car and saw me agitated, fatigued, and anguished. I told him what happened and he rushed to close the garage door. He dragged me inside the house and asked me to remain quiet.

"Why didn't you tell me she was calling you?" I asked in a mix of annoyance and anguish. He opened his mouth to say something, but she knocked.

She arrived in a rented car, not giving us the chance to address the situation. My heart beating as fast as drums in a marching band, my chest felt tight, I couldn't breathe and I felt an imminent panic attack coming as the doorknob turned; she had found the hidden key.

The door opened and that blonde woman walked in, wearing a tight pair of jeans, a white long-sleeve shirt inside them, and a pair of designer shoes that she stomped on the floor as she saw us next to each other, holding hands. Hunter growled at her but she ignored him.

For that unique moment, I wished it was my family causing trouble, not her, but there she was, as beautiful and elegant as she could be. Intimidating my tiny body, feeding my insecurities as she lit a cigarette still standing at the door.

"Hi, baby..." She said as she gently let the smoke out of her red full lips.

"What are you doing here?" He asked with a spiteful tone, not looking at her, holding my hand gently.

"Well... I came back home! But obviously, you had to get a rebound chick to empty your balls..." She said looking at me, I scoffed, squeezing Andrew's hand. "Wait a minute... You're that girl at the bar," she said recognizing me.

"This is not your home anymore, Alice. You should leave." He said finally looking at her.

"Seriously, Andy? Her? You're leaving all this...for her? Can't you fall any deeper?" She said. I started walking towards her. I wanted to rip off her dirty hair extensions, but Andrew pulled me back.

"Leave. You have no business here anymore." He said but she wouldn't leave.

Andrew and Alice's arguments were back and forth; talking about her cheating on him, and I was in the middle of that crossfire being called the mistress. I wanted to punch her face, I clenched my fist a couple of times but that wasn't very ladylike, right? Bullshit! I got enough of her and in a fit of gallantry mixed with jealousy, I punched her in the face and then grabbed her by the hair, and dragged her outside, pushing her to the ground.
