Episode 14: Daylight is Fleeting

The next episode begins with everyone in stunned silence, Bowie sporting a slight smirk. Chef jogs over to the group, breaking the silence. "Listen, kids, it's gonna get dark soon. Let's look for Caleb while the sun's still out." His voice is firm, but there's an undertone of worry, making it clear that they need to act fast.

Axel is the first to agree. "Yeah, not sure it's much safer, but I'd much rather be able to see in front of me." Her practical approach resonates with everyone, and soon they all fall in line. Wayne suggests splitting into two groups, but the rest quickly shut that idea down. Everyone knows it’s too dangerous with their numbers dwindling. Instead, they all embark on the search for Caleb as a single unit.

The next few minutes are tense as they walk in near-silence, every step on the crunching leaves seeming louder in the otherwise quiet forest. No one speaks much, except Chef and Axel, who exchange hushed words at the front. They talk quietly about strategies, ensuring that no detail goes unnoticed. The group follows closely, eyes scanning the trees and shadows, waiting for any sign of Caleb.

Bowie, unable to resist, leans toward Julia. In a teasing whisper, he says, "So... MK, huh?" There's a mischievous glint in his eyes, his tone lighthearted despite the serious situation.

"Leave me alone," Julia responds with a joking tone, rolling her eyes but smiling. It’s a brief, fleeting moment of levity in an otherwise dire situation.

Bowie chuckles under his breath as he walks past her, smirking. "Alright, I just don’t see it." He shakes his head, amused, leaving Julia behind. She rolls her eyes again, but this time there's a real smile on her face.

Just then, Chef stops suddenly, putting his hand up to signal silence. The group halts instantly. Chef scans the area, his expression serious. Damien mutters under his breath, "Here we go again..."
