Episode 24: Detained

The episode picks up with Axel's group, still making idle conversation as they wait. Bowie lets out an exasperated sigh, whisper-yelling, "We've been here for, like, forever," his eyes wide in frustration.

Axel rolls her eyes. "It's been five minutes, max," she whispers back. Bowie huffs, clearly impatient, but keeps quiet. Despite expectations that Axel's group would be the one to draw MK's attention-since Wayne, her last target, is with them-it turns out Damien's group is the one in luck.

It doesn't even take more than a minute. Without warning, MK swings down from a nearby vine, her signature yell echoing through the trees as she lunges directly at Julia. The yell gives them just enough time to react, and everything falls into place. Julia and Damien both fall backward onto their respective piles of leaves as planned. As soon as they hit the ground, Damien darts behind the log to grab the rope.

Following his part in the plan, Caleb tackles MK off the vine, pinning her down and securing her hands behind her back. Damien runs over, swiftly tying the rope around her hands, while Caleb keeps her restrained. Julia, still on the ground, sits up in shock, watching as MK struggles, looking completely different in her tattered, wild attire. Axel was right-MK has changed.

Once her hands are tied, Caleb pulls MK to her feet, holding the rope tightly as they start back toward the cabin. MK fights against them every step of the way, kicking Caleb in the shin hard enough to make him wince. "Ow, shit!" he mutters, causing Damien to stifle a laugh. Despite the struggle, they manage the tense, silent journey back. Everyones happy with the results of this very simple trap, although, you can't exactly see the joy right there on their faces.

When they arrive, Axel's group is sitting on the porch with Chef, all looking dejected. The simple, yet easily executive trap hadn't worked out for them as planned, and they assumed Damien's group would return empty-handed. But as soon as the others spot MK in tow, their expressions shift from disappointment to shock and then excitement. The second the other group comes into view, they all begin looking around at eachother with shocked wide smiles on all their faces.

Confessional - Bowie:
"I can't believe this! Wow, just wow."

Bowie and Wayne share a high-five, grinning at the successful capture. Axel high-fives Chef, and then, after a moment of hesitation, Axel and Bowie exchange a high-five as well. For the first time since returning to the island, the group feels a glimmer of hope that they might actually make it back with exactly what they'd hoped. Their friends to return with them.
