It was just another Tuesday afternoon in the bustling life of Jin. The sun poured through the large windows of his living room, casting a warm glow on the cozy space. He lounged on the couch, surrounded by his closest friends—Namjoon, Jungkook, and Taehyung—who had come over to spend some quality time together. They were laughing, joking, and enjoying a casual game of cards, the air filled with the light-hearted camaraderie that always accompanied their get-togethers."You're going down, Jin!" Jungkook teased, leaning back in his chair with a smug grin as he laid down a particularly impressive hand. The group erupted into laughter, but Jin simply smirked back, ready to play his next move.
As the playful banter continued, Jin felt a vibration from his phone on the coffee table. He glanced at it, expecting a text from one of the boys, but instead, his heart sank when he saw it was from Mina. They had been married for two years and had a beautiful two-year-old son, Jiwoon, who was the center of their world. Curiosity turned to unease as he opened the message.
*Jin, we need to talk. I’m bored of this life and I want a divorce. I’ll send the papers tomorrow. I want nothing to do with you or Jiwoon.*
The words blurred together as shock washed over him. He read the message again, hoping to find some glimmer of misunderstanding, a context that might explain her abrupt decision. But no, the harsh reality of her words hit him like a punch to the gut. Bored? Divorce? He felt his heart racing, his breath quickening as a whirlwind of emotions cascaded through him.
The laughter around him faded into the background, the cards forgotten on the table as his mind raced. How could Mina do this? After everything they had been through, how could she just throw away their life together? Jin’s thoughts spiraled as he tried to piece together the puzzle. Was it his fault? Had he missed the signs?
“Jin, you good?” Namjoon’s voice broke through his haze, and Jin looked up to see his friends staring at him, concern etched on their faces.
He felt the weight of their gazes but couldn’t muster the strength to respond. All he could do was stare at the phone in his hand, Mina's words echoing in his mind.
“Jin?” Taehyung leaned forward, concern deepening. “What’s wrong?”
Swallowing hard, Jin finally found his voice. “It’s Mina… she wants a divorce.”
Silence enveloped the room as the realization sunk in. The jovial atmosphere shifted dramatically, replaced by a thick tension as his friends processed the news.
“What? Why?” Jungkook exclaimed, disbelief clear in his tone.
“She said she’s bored,” Jin replied, his voice cracking as he fought to hold back the tide of emotion threatening to spill over. “She wants nothing to do with me or Jiwoon. She’s sending the papers tomorrow.”
Namjoon shook his head, disbelief turning to anger. “That’s ridiculous! You guys were happy… at least you seemed happy. What the hell happened?”
“I don’t know!” Jin shouted, feeling the frustration bubble to the surface. “I thought everything was fine. We’ve had our ups and downs, but what couple doesn’t? I never thought she’d actually… do this.”
Taehyung put a reassuring hand on Jin’s shoulder, a gesture meant to ground him in this chaos. “We’ll figure this out, Jin. You’re not alone in this.”
The warmth of their friendship provided a small comfort, but it did little to ease the gnawing fear in Jin’s chest. Jiwoon. His son. The thought of losing his family sent a wave of panic surging through him. “What about Jiwoon?” he whispered, his voice shaking.
