S3 #19: Origins and Beginning

The celebration is finally over, and Hayato, Shun, Hanabi, Rui and Chie, they all enter Hayato's office, located at the Mansion of the Training Camp. The office is wide, with two couches facing each other and a low table in the middle of it all. The desk is at the end, with a window as big as the wall behind it. As for the walls, they are filled with picture frames showcasing portraits of people wearing the same uniform as Hayato, implying that they're his predecessors.

_Chie: So, this police force was founded by New Japan...

_Hanabi: Yes, all of us come from there.

_Chie: ... (she observes the portraits) ... Huh, how weird...

_Hanabi: ...? Why is it weird?

_CHIE: I thought that people from New Japan were racist against us.

Absolute silence, everyone focuses their eyes on Chie.

_Chie: People from New Japan used to visit the Intoku Clan, and they were always mean, they clearly discriminated all the Japanese people who didn't live at the Great New World. And yet, those bastards would always come to Morinosuke and his father, and force them to help them find criminals who escaped from New Japan into this world.

_Hanabi: ...

_Hayato: ...Indeed, we used to do that.

_Shun: ...

_Rui: But hold up, if they were so superior, why would they ask for their help? Can't they just catch their criminals on their own?

_Chie: They didn't have maps or any other sort of information about our world. They were so prideful and stupid, that they thought it was a waste of time to do exploration of an inferior civilization like ours. Instead, they used the Intokun Clan as guides to compensate.

_Rui: ...Hmm

_Hayato: ... Interesting, Ishikawa-san, you sure know a lot. I assume it's because of Morinosuke Intoku's memories, correct?

_Chie: Yes, correct. It took a while, but memories regarding the New World eventually popped up into my head, since that's what Morinosuke lived.

_Hayato: I see...

_Chie: But that's why I still don't get it. A hundred years ago they had little presence here, and now they kinda happen to have a police department here? How?

_Hanabi: ...

_Chie: And just... who made that statue at the entrance anyway? You said you have no records of the Intokun Clan, so how did you get to make a statue identical to Morinosuke?

_Hayato: ...You obviously know nothing, because this all happened after Morinosuke's death. But don't worry, I can explain it to you.

_Chie: Please do it.

_Hayato: ...

Everyone except for Hanabi sits on the couches. Chie and Rui are on one side, and Shun and Hayato are on the other.

_Hayato: ... So... How can I say it cleanly...

_Chie: ...

_Hayato: ... Back in the era of Morinosuke, criminals from the Great New World would use illegal portals and come here to do their evil deeds. However, we used to pay them very little attention, because from our perspective, they were leaving OUR nation, and thus they weren't going to harm US anymore.

_Chie: What? That's just stupid!

_Hayato: I know, our leaders back then were very stupid, even more so than now.
