S3 #22: Adult Lies

Chie and Shun continue in the car, but the tension has somehow risen.

_Chie: ... What, you're also gonna sermon me for quitting martial arts? REALLY?

_Shun: You're only 16, you know nothing about the world, and by the looks of it, no one is guiding you on these decisions, right?

_Chie: Yeah, and what's the problem? I decided to quit, it was MY fucking idea. AND I ALSO DECIDED TO INHERIT MORINOSUKES MEMORIES, I COULD HAVE SAID NO, BUT HERE I AM IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW!

_Shun: ...

_Chie: And now, it was MY idea to join the Police Camp, not yours, not your father's, MINE, ONLY MINE. And this is my life! I don't need to be a character being told how to move or where to go. I forge my own destiny, and I'll follow my own path, AND NO ONE WILL STOP ME!

_Shun: ... It sure sounds fun, doesn't it?

_Chie: Fun?! Are we role-playing or something what the FOCK?!

_Shun: It sure is fun talking about living your dreams, not thinking about the risks, just going forward like a racehorse, don't you think?

_Chie: ... And why would I think about risks? I gotta be positive, and I'm positive I made the right call when I said to my parents "I quit", and everything else afterwards!

_Shun: ...

_Chie: ... What?

_Shun: Mistakes are a normal part of life, Ishikawa, you must accept them, yes, but only if you don't commit mistakes that threaten your life, let alone kill you.

_Chie: ...

_Shun: Right now you're entering my world, Ishikawa Chie. There are criminals, evil organizations, people sick in the head that don't care about social norms or the lives of others. And they're all aura users, they have access to powers not even I or the old man know about.

_Chie: ...

_Shun: When I first entered this world, I was like you... I felt powerful, and I also wanted to escape my boring life, follow my dreams and make my own destiny, you know, just like any other stupid kid with a heart of glass nowadays.

_Chie: ...

_Shun: But you know, it's because I was selfish, that I was manipulated and almost got myself killed.

_Chie: ...

_Shun You really think you're special, unlike any other? What assures me that the same thing won't happen to you?

AND WHAT ASSURES ME THAT YOU WON'T DIE?

_Chie: ...

_Shun: I survived, and I continue surviving to this day, because I fight seeing the evil of the human race, knowing I have the power to get rid of people who want nothing else but seeing the world burn.

_Chie: ...

_Shun: There are convictions and determinations far stronger in this world than just saying "I wanna follow my dream". And before you realize it, your selfish desire for self-realization will get you killed.

_Chie: ...

_Shun: ... Oh and by the way, we're already at your house.

_Chie: Huh?

Chie looks out her window, AND REALIZES SHE INDEED ALREADY ARRIVED AT HER HOUSE. Shun parks the car, pulls his hands away from the handle, and waves at Chie indicating her to leave. HOWEVER, she remains sitting. She doesn't even show intentions of reaching the door.
