As Rui and Chie keep facing the ghost, a transition is made to an unknown location, out there somewhere in the night, in the darkness of a vast forest. There, a narrow passageway leads to a wide field, and a mysterious old mansion before it. However, it doesn't seem abandoned. Moreover, the building seems lively and fully operational, as a small group of bushes form a rectangle in the middle of the field, and on it, there lies a statue...a statue with a familiar face...
THE STATUE IS SHAPED AFTER MORINOSUKE INTOKU! IT'S A MEMORIAL OF HIM, 110 YEARS LATER AFTER HIS DEATH!
Also, down at the base of the statue, the following inscription can be read on a plaque:
"MORINOSUKE INTOKU
1900-1914
May his sacrifice and the will of the Intoku Clan to protect the weak never be forgotten, as well as the thousands of nameless lives that tragically disappeared.
Inaugurated at the Opening Ceremony of the
New Japan Police Training Camp
July 13th, 1937"
The mysterious building, indeed, seems to belong to the police. Inside of it, a call center shaped like an auditorium is visible, with numerous desks, computers, young people dressed as officers, and screens showing all kinds of maps and news. One officer begins to receive a call, with its details displayed on his computer as well.
_Unit: Base, this is Unit 203, do you copy?
_Officer: Yes, Unit 203, I hear you, what's your situation?
_Unit: We have found the possible hideout of the man who kidnapped 5 college students 3 days ago. We have scanned the area, and confirmed that indeed all the hostages are here, incapacitated, but still alive.
_Officer: And the criminal?
_Unit: He seems to be gone, but his vehicle is here, so he shouldn't be far from here.
_Officer: Tell me, Unit 203...
CAN YOU CONFIRM THAT THE CRIMINAL IS AN AURA USER?
(Dramatic pause)
_Unit: We have no proof so far. However, the evidence given to us makes it very likely that he is.
_Officer: Anything you could find from reckoning the surroundings? Anything that could give a hint to what kind of aura ability the user has?
_Unit: Not yet. However, we were discussing whether to take action or not right now, since the criminal could have an aura ability to transport his victim, and thus change locations whenever he wants.
_Officer: Negative, 203, until we know precisely what type of aura ability he has, we can't take such a risky action. If you proceed, both you and the hostages will meet unnecessary danger.
_Unit: ...U-understood.
_Officer: Keep surveilling and observe the criminal's movements as soon he arrives. I'll notify HQ of your progress, and if they find it necessary, they'll deploy a Fighting Unit to aid you in the operation.
