San and Yeosang stood there for a moment, the awkwardness between them thick but not unbearable. They both shuffled their feet, neither quite sure what to say. San cleared his throat, trying to break the silence, but the words got stuck, his nerves twisting in his chest.
"Uh... I could... walk you to your dorm," San finally mumbled, scratching the back of his head as his eyes darted away, avoiding Yeosang's gaze.
Yeosang nodded quickly, just as nervous. "Yeah... okay. That sounds good."
They both started walking, the silence between them feeling louder than it should. The usual comfort they felt with each other was overshadowed by the tension of everything left unsaid, both too shy to bring up the kiss or their feelings. San could feel his heart racing with each step, and he stole a few glances at Yeosang, who was biting his lip, looking just as anxious.
When they finally reached Yeosang's dorm, they stopped in front of the door, both of them standing awkwardly. San fidgeted with his sleeves, trying to think of something to say, anything that wouldn't make things weirder.
"I, uh... I guess this is it," San mumbled, ready to say goodbye. His heart was still pounding, and he could feel the words he really wanted to say stuck in his throat.
Yeosang hesitated for a moment, staring at the floor before suddenly speaking up. "Do you... um, want to come in? It's not that late yet." His voice was soft, almost hopeful, and he glanced up at San through his lashes, waiting for a response.
San blinked in surprise, his heart skipping a beat. "Y-Yeah, sure," he stammered, trying to sound casual but failing miserably.
Yeosang turned to open the door, his hand trembling slightly as he fumbled with the key. San stood behind him, trying to act normal but feeling his pulse quicken. Once the door swung open, they both stepped inside, the air inside the dorm feeling even heavier than outside.
They entered the small living space, and San awkwardly stood near the entrance, not knowing where to go or what to do. Yeosang moved around, nervously picking up random items and setting them back down, clearly just as unsure.
"Uh, you can... sit if you want," Yeosang mumbled, gesturing to the small couch by the window.
San nodded and moved to sit down, but as soon as he did, he realized how close the space was, making everything feel even more intimate. Yeosang sat down on the edge of the couch, a little distance from San but not far enough to ease the tension. They both sat in silence for a few seconds, neither of them looking at the other, the weight of their feelings hanging heavily in the air.
Neither of them knew exactly what to say, but they were both hyper-aware of each other's presence. After a few moments of awkward silence, San hesitated, then slid closer to Yeosang, their knees brushing.
Yeosang gasped softly at the sudden closeness, his heart skipping a beat as he looked at San with wide eyes.
San chuckled, trying to ease the tension. "Is it not okay to sit closer to my boyfriend now?" he teased, his tone light but his heart racing.
Yeosang blinked, his face turning crimson as he stuttered, "B-Boyfriend?"
San's eyes widened in realization, and he quickly looked away, his cheeks flushing as embarrassment set in. "I-I mean... I thought that since we both confessed... and we like each other... and we kissed... that means we're dating now, right?"
Yeosang blushed even harder, his mind racing at the thought. "Oh, I... I thought you would ask me first," he mumbled, his voice barely audible as he glanced shyly at San.
San, caught off guard by Yeosang's response, turned to look at him, a warm smile slowly spreading across his face. He chuckled softly and leaned in, playfully pinching Yeosang's cheek. "So that's how you want it, huh?" he teased gently. "Alright then... would you like to be my boyfriend, Yeosang?"
Yeosang's heart fluttered at San's words, and for a moment, he couldn't bring himself to speak. Instead, he nodded quickly, biting his lip to keep from smiling too wide.
San grinned, letting go of Yeosang's cheek as he leaned back slightly, still holding his gaze. "Good," he said softly, the nervousness finally easing as he felt the weight of Yeosang's acceptance settle warmly in his chest.
Yeosang, still blushing, shyly glanced down at their now slightly intertwined hands. "I... I didn't think it would happen like this," he admitted softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
San chuckled again, squeezing Yeosang's hand gently. "Yeah, me neither... but I'm glad it did."
San took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his own admission. "I've never dated a guy before,", his voice soft but honest. "But I'm not scared to find out what it's like... especially if it's with you." His eyes met Yeosang's, a small, sincere smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "So I apologize in advance if i do anything wrong. Just tell me okay?"
Yeosang blushed deeply, looking down at his hands for a moment before replying. "I've never had a boyfriend before either... or anyone I've dated," he admitted, his voice quiet but clear. "This is completely new for me, too."
San blinked, his eyes widening in surprise. "Wait, but I thought—" He paused, remembering Wooyoung's words. "Woo said..." Realization hit him like a wave, and he let out a chuckle, shaking his head. "Of course, he lied to me." He sighed, feeling a bit foolish. "I was jealous for nothing."
Yeosang blushed even more, still not sure how to respond, but a small smile played on his lips. San, noticing this, took Yeosang's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Well, it looks like we'll both be having new experiences, then," he said, his smile returning. "And I'm excited to share it with you."
Yeosang's heart fluttered at San's words, and he nodded, feeling the warmth of San's hand in his. The tension in the air lightened, and for the first time in days, it felt like things were falling into place.
San, feeling the moment was right, hesitated only for a second before asking, "Can I kiss you again?"
Yeosang didn't say anything, but his face moved a little closer to San's, the unspoken answer clear. San smiled, his heart racing, and leaned in slowly. "If you don't say anything, I'm going to kiss you," he teased, his voice soft as he inched closer. Yeosang closed his eyes, his silent response.
San's lips were just about to brush Yeosang's when, suddenly, his phone rang loudly, making both of them jump back in surprise.
"Damn it," San muttered under his breath, frowning as he pulled out his phone. He glanced at the screen, seeing his dad's name flashing across it. "It's my dad," he explained, apologetically.
He got up to answer the call, walking a few steps away. Yeosang watched him, the atmosphere between them still buzzing with tension. San spoke briefly with his father, his expression shifting from frustration to resignation. When he hung up, he turned back to Yeosang with a sigh.
"I have to go to Namhae," San said, his voice heavy with disappointment. "My dad needs me to help with something for the week... and I can't really say no."
Yeosang nodded, understanding but clearly disappointed. "It's okay, San. You should go. Family's important."
San sighed again, running a hand through his hair. "I just hate that it's right now... when we just started..." He looked at Yeosang, the sadness evident in his eyes.
Yeosang smiled gently, trying to comfort him. "We'll have time when you get back. It's okay, really."
San walked over, giving Yeosang's hand one last squeeze before letting go. "I'll call and text you everyday," he promised, his voice soft but firm. "As soon as I'm back, we'll pick up where we left off."
Yeosang nodded, his heart racing, knowing they had only just begun something special. "I'll be waiting," he said softly, his own smile returning as San pecked his cheek and turned to leave, both of them already anticipating their reunion.
