Hi guys! I'm sorry, I did say that I would update more frequently but I'm sleep-deprived because of school and etc. I'm trying to make my updates frequent! The other story Infinitely Timeless, is on hold due to wanting to focus on this story a little first, because it's new and just starting out.

CHAPTER FOUR
Melanie:
"Mel, you're over exaggerating. It's not like your life is on the line because you're about to fall off a bridge." Kai falsely stated.

"I'm not! That's exactly what's happening right now!" I distressfully argued, furrowing my eyebrows.

From my limited sight, Kelsey nervously bit her lip.

Meanwhile, Caleb came up with an idea which I didn't agree with.

"Here's an idea," announced Caleb, smirking suspiciously at everyone.

"Maybe we should go to the lake to find rope and come back for her later," he advocated, looking entertained by everyone's reaction. At first, they gaped in utter shock.

"No," they disagreed in unison.

"We can't just leave her here where someone could kidnap her!" emphasized Kelsey in disbelief.

"It's not safe for her by herself," croaked Ace.

"I'm sure it's fine, not like she'll die alone," shrugged Kai, receiving a puzzled look from everyone. "What?"

Kelsey punched his shoulder. "Ow! What was that for?" spat Kai, as he rubbed his shoulder and narrowed his eyes at her.

Caleb raised his hands up in surrender. "Okay, maybe not the best idea but we can take what we can get, right? There's no other choice."

"Hmm," thought Kelsey, glimpsing at me and reconsidering, "fine, but I think at least one of us should stay with her."

"I'll stay," offered Caleb, while everyone else shot him a glance then nodded, leaving. Except Ace was still present, trekking slowly and dangerously towards Caleb.

"I don't know if I can trust you to keep her safe, can I?"

"Trust me, she'll be safe with me," concluded Caleb, taking a short sip from the wine bottle I didn't notice he was holding before. Even when giving up the ghost, I was still able to see.

And with that short confrontation, everyone left. Everyone except Caleb.

"What are you, my personal bodyguard?" I asked with a hint of an annoyed tone.

"Maybe," he smiled with a conceited look, "just making sure you don't die a horrible death because that would be tragic."

Gripping tightly to the bridge, I disgustedly narrowed my eyes at him. "You know what else would be tragic?" I choked, "if you died from drinking."

"I may or may not be also drunk."

He smiled, taking another long sip from his bourbon. From what I saw, he was probably tipsy. Just from the way he was acting towards me said otherwise. His appearance was not as attractive as I remembered. His eyes were dilated. There was a disgusting smell of sweat---alcoholic sweat. Since I've known him for a year and half now, I knew how he acted. And it wasn't like this. This was the worst part of him I'd seen.

Caleb:

Taking another sip, I felt the liquid burn down my throat. It was stronger much to my taste. Like I've had bourbon better than this.

Time, I felt wasn't even passing. It was as though I were living in that same moment for a long time. How long did it take to get a piece of rope? If I were with them, we would have arrived before the sun set. Except for the fact that it was already becoming dark.
