The Runaway - Part 3

The next day Liam wakes up first. Opening his eyes he's met with the back of your head. He smiles softly, but then frowns at how close you are, he looks down and find there to be nothing between you. Your back pressed up against his front and his arm wrapped around your waist.

He lifts his head a bit and finds Leah on your other side.

Leah had shifted in her sleep and ended up on your other side, and pushed you closer to Liam. You and Liam had instinctively melted into each other in your sleep.

He lets out a breath he didn't know he had been holding and it tickles your neck, walking you up. You shift slightly and he bites his lip when you moved your hips closer unconsciously.

Feeling someone's closeness behind you, and not excepting that you frown and turn your head to find Liam behind you. You see then that you were now the one between Liam and Leah.

You chuckle and he sighs in relief.

"So much for the barrier." You whisper. And he chuckles softly.

"Did you sleep well?" He asks with a husky morning voice and you nod with a yawn. He holds back the huge grin he feels growing, at how adorable you were in the morning.

Leah wakes up and just silently goes out of the room and to the others.

You laugh a little with Liam at her. He stands up from the bed and gives you a hand, you take it and he helps you up. Looking up at him you find that you were standing very close.

Hearing voices outside the room he clears his throat awkwardly and takes a step back going to find a change of clothes for after he takes a shower.

"Good morning." You tell them as you walk out of the bedroom and they greet you back. "I'm gonna head home and take a shower."

You give Leah a kiss on the head and look at her.

"Will you do me a favour, and let the Shannon's take care of you? I promise I'll come by whenever I can and you can always come by the clinic." You tell her and she nods, now feeling much better about staying here with them.

You smile at her turn to Elisabeth and Maddy.

"I'll see you soon." You tell them and they nod with a smile before you leave.

...

You were in the clinic and handed Maddy a patient file. She and Elisabeth then go to the patient together and you help another patient. You glance over at them to see how Maddy is doing, and see her struggling. She clearly found it uncomfortable to look at his wound.

...

Liam and Jim walks through the market with Taylor.

"I sent Washington out at dawn, to look for the girls bag." Taylor tells them. "Thought maybe it'd buy here some goodwill. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Morning Tres." He then greet someone who throws him an orange.

"Here you go, sir."

"Thank you. How soon is too soon to start de-briefing? Today. Tomorrow?" He asks Jim, then turning to Liam.

"Might wanna give her a little more time than that. She finally let go of Yn this morning and barely let me go today. But I'll discuss it with Yn." Liam says and Jim nods in agreement.

"Alright." Taylor says and then a soldier exclaims.

"Sixers!"

"Sound the alarm. To your posts!" Taylor orders.

The alarm blares and Leah speaks up to Josh at Shannon's house.

"They've come for me." She says. She was sitting on the floor with her knees to her chest, considering to go to you or look for Liam before the alarm started.

"Hey, you're safe here, Leah. No one gets through the gates unless Taylor says so.

Out by the gates, the soldiers all get into position. The Sixers bring out Wash and the other soldier from this morning.

Mira walks out, standing before the Sixers.

"They've come for the girl. Whoever they got on the inside tipped them she's here. Raise the gates." Taylor says.

The gates raises.

"You got spare ones of those?" Jim asks a soldier and he gives him a gun. Another one gives Liam one.

"So?" Taylor says coming up to Mira.

"You have something that belongs to me. I want her back." She tells him and Liam feels himself growing angry with the women. Feeling a strong urge to protect Leah from her.

"Is that why you abducted my people?"

"Just returning the favour, Taylor."

"The girl came to us."

"I don't believe you. I think your people took her. I think she's being held as your prisoner."

"I think we both know that's not true."

"You want your people back? Give me the girl."

"This is not a negotiation."

"The girl will decide her own fate. If she wants to leave with you, she's free to go."

"Then bring her out here, and let's find out."

"As soon as you release my people."

She looks at him for a moment.

"Let them go." She then orders her men.

"What?" Carter asks.

"I said, let them go."

They do and they walk over to their side. Taylor turns to Liam.

"Liam, bring the girl out here." Liam gives him a slight look before reluctantly walking. He didn't want to bring Leah anywhere near that woman.

...

"Liam came and got Leah." Josh tells her mother, coming into the clinic.

"What?" Elisabeth asks and you walk up to them.

"Mira wants to talk to her." He says.

"What!?" You ask and run out of the clinic.

You run out and Elisabeth follows you. The soldiers stop you from going further and make you stand behind a car to watch from a distance.

You watch anxiously as Liam brings Leah with him outside the gates.

"Just tell the truth, Leah. It'll be okay." Liam tells her, squeezing her hand in reassurance.

They walk up to Mira and Taylor

"Leah, look at me." Mira says and she tentatively does. "Tell them you want to come home."

Leah stays quiet.

"Speak!" Mira shouts.

"Hey." Liam glares at her and she raises an eyebrow at him.

"I ran away." Leah then says. "I'm not going back with you. I wanna stay here." She says and takes Liams hand again standing close to him.

"She's made her decision." Taylor says. "The girl stays."

"Keep her then. She's nothing to me." Liam gives her an annoyed look and turn around with Leah.

Mira turns to leave.

"This is the second time you've come to my gates and threatened the colony. There won't be a third." Taylor tells her. "Next time, I'm going to war."

The Sixers leave.

Seeing Leah and Liam walk back you push past the soldier that was making sure you stayed back and ran to them.

"Leah!" You say and she turns to you, she lets go of Liam and runs to you. You leans down and capture her in your arms in a hug.

Liam smiles softly at the two of you as he walk to you.

"You did so good. You're so brave." You tell her softly. Over your shoulder her face falls slightly but it's out of yours and Liams sight.
