I awoke with the memories rushing back to my head: of my walk, of the fight, and the silhouette of the person who saved me. Who was it?

Now I open my eyes for real. I have no idea where I am. All I know is I'm lying on a bed. And I can hear someone talking:

"She should be ok, the only concerning thing was the gash on her forehead. She was losing a considerable amount of blood. We used a healing and blood loss rune on her which took immediate effect. Now is just the question of whether she has got a concussion."

I assume they're talking about me. I hear footsteps getting closer to where I am. So I just lay with my eyes closed.

Until I feel the presence of someone near me, so I cautiously open my eyes. A boy, my age or a year older, is looking down at me. His hair was a golden blond colour, but it's not his hair that got my attention. It were his eyes. They were a severe golden colour. Like semi burnt sugar.

"Who are you? Do I know you?" I ask him.

"I wouldn't think so" he replied

"Where am I? Who are YOU? What is going on? What happene-"

"You have so many questions. I'll answer the ones you must know. My name is Jace. Jace Wayland. We are in the New York institute for Shadowhunters, and this is the infirmary."

"Thank you Jace Wayland. Do you know who saved my sorry ass for killing that ravener demon for me? I wanted to thank them before I passed out, but I passed out so I couldn't thank them. Quite the predicament, really."

"Well, lucky you! Because you have me to thank." Jace smirked

"Well thank you Jace Wayland for saving my sorry ass"

"I tell you what's odd" Jace began

"What?" I asked

"I don't even know your name and you know mine"

I forgot to tell him my name! Idiot.

"My name is Imogene. Imogene Aspenwell"

"So I assume you're a Shadowhunter?"

"Oh no, I'm just a mundane who happens to possess a seraph blade and Of course!"

"Thanks for that, sergeant sarcasm!" Jace said

"Anytime" I replied.

"So I think since you're a little better, I should give you a tour of the institute." He said

"Doesn't sound bad, not at all" I told him.

He showed me around to all the places I would need to know: my temporary room: his room, the library, which was massive, it had more books than I have seen combined in my life.

"Wow" I whispered, observing the library in its full glory.

"Now it's wow, later it's ugh. You'll get used to it, even bored. Come on, we don't have all day" said Jace

"Okay" I said as he dragged me down the hall. All the different things, the miscellaneous things in the institute I couldn't keep count of. Weapons room was one I did manage to remember.

"I think it's almost time for dinner. Lets just hope to God Isabelle hasn't cooked it"

"Who's Isabelle?"

"All in due time Imogene" said Jace

We kept on walking till we made it to the kitchen where a girl was standing by the stove. She was beautiful: she was fairly tall with long, dead black hair and black eyes.

"Oh great" Jace muttered under his breath

"What? What on earth is wrong?"

"My worst fears have been confirmed"

"What might those be?"

"Isabelle's cooking dinner tonight"

There was a split second silence until the girl by the stove piped up

"Excuse me? My cooking's fine Jace!" then the girl looked at me and started to say "you ought to stop bringing mundan-" she stopped mid sentence when she saw my runes "Oh. So she's a Shadowhunter. That's a nice change."

"Isabelle, "she" has a name" Jace said sternly to her.

Isabelle then looked at me.

"And what might your name be?"

"I'm Imogene Aspenwell. And your name?"

"I'm Isabelle Lightwood. Nice meeting you" she said.

"And by your cookings fine, you mean it will come alive, crawl out of the pot and eat us all alive?" Jace remarked, rebutting Isabelle's sentence about her cooking before her conversation with me.

"Shut it" Isabelle muttered, going back to stirring whatever was in that pot of hers.

Then I heard some more footsteps along the hall. A boy entered the room and my jaw almost dropped. He had to be Isabelle's brother, with the same black hair. But he did not have Isabelle's black eyes: he had electric blue eyes instead

"What's going on here? Who's this?" The boy said, gesturing towards me.

"This is Imogene Aspenwell. And Imogene this is my brother Alec Lightwood."

"Ah, Parabatai I assume?" I said

Alec said "Yes in fact, we are. How do you know?"

"Well Jace referred to you as his brother, and since you aren't really brothers because you have different surnames, you must be Parabatai."

"So I assume you're a trained Shadowhunter?"

"Correct assumption"

"Hey Alec, come over here" Jace said

"Ok?" Alec asked immediately a questioning tone

"I say we get take out" Jace whispered to low enough so Isabelle wouldn't hear "Isabelle's cooking"

"Oh. Good idea." Alec agreed.

"Why though? Her cooking can't be THAT bad"

"Oh no, it is actually the epitome of all cooking. If you eat it, you have a 50% chance of getting food poisoning. I learnt that the hard way"

I stifled a laugh as I said to Jace and Alec

"Sure. Do you guys like pizza?"

"Good idea" said Jace

"I'm in no position to argue." Alec agreed.
