Memories

Alec helped me get Jace to his feet. He was still confused as hell as we walked with him back to the institute.

We arrived on the front steps if the institute, and Jace asked

"What is this?"

I in reply said: "this is the New York institute for shadowhunters. Ring any bells?"

"No. Still don't know"

"Really? You better remember soon, because they'll suspect something. For now, we'll speak for you, but pick up quickly or else we're screwed. Got it?"

"Yes ma'am" Jace said.

"You'd better have. Lets go"

We walked through the door down the corridor where Jace, Alec, Isabelle's rooms were. Mine too.

"Alec, I need to talk to you" I said to him, pulling him aside.

"Yeah, what's up?" He replied, rather casually

"I think we should try a recall rune on Jace. It could bring some of his memories back. If not, we might have to result to the most drastic of measures" I said

"That sounds fair. By the most drastic of measures, do you mean-?"

"Yes. We might have to go to the Silent Brothers. They'll be able to give Jace his memories"

"Ok. In the morning, because its something like 11.45 now"

"Good idea. I'll go to bed. Can you show Jace his room? And while you're at it, giving a briefing about the place and the people here. That should get us off to a good start. Is that ok?"

"Should be fine. Night Imogene" Alec said, walking over to a confused Jace.

"Night" I called back, heading to my room

*Morning*

I woke up, sitting in bed. I was in that period of bliss when you wake up and you have no idea what unravelled the night before or the day. But then reality hit me like a moving train: Jace, Alec and I had fought of demons after getting pizza in the lonely streets of New York at night. And if anyone finds out about Jace's lost memories, we're screwed beyond belief.

Better get up then, Imogene, I thought to myself. I yanked myself out of bed, heading to the mirror. I stared at by ghastly reflection. My wavy auburn hair was everywhere, my pale blue eyes had bags so big they reached my freckled cheeks. I had a button nose and my eyes were totally out of proportion with my face. My eyes were massive, surrounded by longish darker eyelashes. This was going to be a long day.

I then went to do my hair in a messy plait that went down to my tailbone cause I couldn't be bothered to brush it. Too long.

I got dressed in a casual navy tank top and track pants. I walked downstairs to eat breakfast, where I found a scene of utter peculiarity. Jace was talking about training: that's odd, since he had lost his memories the night before. Alec was laughing and talking with him.

"What's going on here? Got our memories back have we?" I asked Jace and Alec

"Yes actually. I used the recall rune like you said, and it all came back to him. So we aren't screwed!" Alec cheered

"That's great! So Jace, you remember everything?"

"Yep. Nothing I haven't so far. We have training today, yeah?"

"Yeah. We're focusing on unarmed combat. Think you can handle that? Cause if you're taking me on, I'd be afraid. Be very afraid" I said grabbing an apple out of the fridge, walking to get in my training gear and to meet in the training room.

"I'll keep that in mind" Jace said as I walked out of the room.

As I walked, I could hear Jace and Alec still talking. There were only two words Jace said I caught as I left. My name, and beautiful.

I thought to myself I must have heard wrong.

I must have, right?

Maybe he said pitiful.

That's probably it.

---------------------------------------------

I walked to the training room, dressed in my black Shadowhunter training gear.

I was the only one there, so I decided I might practice my knife throwing. I picked a knife from the wall, examining it as I walked over to the targets. I took the knife in hand, and flicked my wrist. With the familiar whoosh of wind by my ear, I let it go.

I watched closely as it hurtled through the air, spinning as it went. It lodged itself in the bullseye.

I gave a satisfied grin to myself, and then I took more shots.

I then did some dodging, and I got really into it.

I whirled through the space, throwing knifes and dodging dummies on the way. I did graceful backflips, somersaults and jumps as I threw them. I ran and ran as I did it.I was in the zone.

Then I heard someone enter the room.
