Jace and I walked into the institute with the grave news and the preparation to come. We told Alec and Isabelle, and they looked at us like they’d almost expected it

“So what are we going to do?” Alec asked very seriously.

“We prepare. Fight, read and train until we are prepared for anything. Because we don’t know what or who is coming on November 29th, but we only know that it’s going to be a battle that we’ll have to fight, for better or worse” I replied

“We need to warn others. Your parents, Alec and Isabelle, where are they?”

“I don’t know, but we can always ring them. They’ll arrive promptly if they know that there could be a pending Shadowhunter apocalypse in less than a month. Well, twenty days. We’ve got not much time” Isabelle said

“I’ll call them soon. But for now, I think we’d better look in the library for potential clues to what it could be if anything like this has happened before” Alec said. Not a bad idea, to his credit.

“Great idea. Let’s go” I said getting up and the others following soon after

We sat in the library for hours, skim reading all the books to do with the history of Shadowhunters.

I sat reading a book called “Demons through the ages” when I heard Isabelle call from across the library

“Guys, I’ve found something, well, to say the least, interesting” Isabelle said. Her tone worried me slightly because I knew what she had found was nothing good.

Obviously, the book she was reading was called “The Blackest Days in Shadowhunter History”

Man, the guy who wrote that must have been a pretty bad person to have at parties.

“It says that at some point, shortly after the creation of Shadowhunters, a powerful Demon tried to annihilate the Shadowhunter race, because of the power they had. Now, tell me that this isn’t one of the best generations of Shadowhunters there has been in a while, and that there are more Demons than in previous generations. We’re talking a Shadowhunter apocalypse all right, but we’re up against something very sinister. Because the last time it came round, there were only 4 Shadowhunters left out of 4000 in battle.”

This isn’t go to be a walk in the park, it seems.

“So, let’s get training” Jace said, with the most serious expression I’d ever to have expected to have seen on his face
