I might've made a stupid mistake.

When I woke up, I decided on letting him be the one to text first, despite my previous plans to take him on date. I need some type of reassurance that he likes me back for sure. So if he texts me back, then I'll ask him out. But I've spent all day waiting, and it's already getting close to six o'clock. I don't think he's going to.

But the one time I decide to separate from my phone today to go pee, I hear it ringing while washing my hands. I hurry and barely dry them before going to see who it is. I swear if it's just someone needing weed, I'm going to be pissed. But when I see the red heart emoji on my screen as I get closer, I feel a rush of excitement and reach to grab it.

"Hello?" comes through as soon as I answer.

"Hey. What's up?" I say, trying to sound calm like I haven't been waiting to hear from him all day.

"Why haven't you text me?" he asks, an attitude lacing his voice.

"Huh?"

"You haven't texted me. I thought you wanted to hang out, but since you never texted me, I guess not." Oh my god. I've witnessed his sassiness, but this is on another level. I mentally groan. It's fucking hot. He's fucking hot.

I don't even try to stop the laughter. "Were you waiting on my text?"

"N-No."

"Why didn't you just text me? Maybe I was waiting on you do the same thing." I think it's a little cute he's mad for having to wait. Now he knows how I feel.

"You always text first."

"Yeah, and maybe I wanted to see if you'd finally do it first."

"You're the one pursuing me," he says with a huff.

"Correct. And I've been trying this whole time. Now I'm just waiting on you to want me back."

"I-"

"What was that?" I ask after he cuts himself off.

"I thought you wanted to hang out. Do you not want to anymore?"

"I don't necessarily want to hang out. I want to do something more."

"Like what?"

"A date."

He lets a sigh out. "That's not exactly easy for me to do."

"We can go wherever you want, do whatever you want. And I won't do anything that might give us away. We'll look like two straight friends hanging out. I promise," I assure him.

"Well, I don't really know what we could do." With how hungry I am right now, going out to eat sounds pretty good. The diner I've been frequenting comes to mind. Yeah, I want to take him there.

"If you would like, I know a really good restaurant. I go there with friends all the time, so it won't look suspicious." Well, all the time is a stretch, considering I've only been there a handful of times but still.

"You have friends?" The insulting question comes out innocent, but it still makes me scoff.

"Yeah. I have friends."

"More than the ones I know?"

"Yes, I have friends outside of Maya and her friends. You're the one that only has one friend," I tease.

"When are we going?" he asks, sounding huffy again.

"I can get ready right now and then come pick you up."
