I mostly spend the day waiting for him to get out of school before texting him. But while I wait, I decide to go to Theo's again, hoping he'll make the day go by a little faster.

I text him to make sure he's off work, and when he confirms he is, I let him know I'm coming over. And when I knock on the door, he yells for me to come in.

"What's up?" he asks, looking up from his phone.

"Just wanting to chill with someone."

"Why don't you hang out with whoever called you the other day?" he asks.

I lift my brow at that. "You sound like a jealous best friend."

"Not jealous, curious," he corrects. "So who was it? You never told me."

"Because it's not your business."

"You talked so soft spoken to them. Like it was so weird hearing you like that." His eyes widen some. "Are you seeing someone?"

"No," I answer a little too quickly.

"Bullshit. Spill."

"No."

"Why not? You know I want to know. Is it a boy at least? Please tell me you're still not trying to convince yourself you're bi. We all know you prefer boys." I roll my eyes at that. "So who is he?"

"There's no one."

"That's not what Jared told me. He said you made up some hypothetical excuse to get advice from him. He's straight, right?"

I rub my face in annoyance. "Fuck. You two can't keep a secret for shit."

"Not from each other," he says with a shrug.

"Not from anyone," I correct.

"Well, I won't tell anyone now. So tell me," he pleads.

"I would, but there really isn't anyone, Theo. Let it go."

He lets a huff out and crosses his arms. "Whatever. I'll meet him one day."

"If there was someone, I wouldn't bring him around you."

"Oh, fuck you, Ry. I'm the coolest person you know."

I let a snort out. "I'll just let you think that."

He lets another huff out. "Did you bring some weed or not? If not, then just leave. You're being a dick today."

"I did, but you're the one butting in on my business."

"Because you're acting weird, and I just want to know if you're seeing someone. It's not that big a deal."

I let a sigh out. "Maybe."

"Maybe? You don't know."

"I don't know. He's thinking about it," I admit.

"Thinking about what?"

"Dating me."

His jaw drops some before he lets a loud laugh out. "Ry having to wait on an answer instead of immediately being fawned over? I'm shocked."

"Oh, please," I protest.

"Every hook up of yours I've met gushes about you, and later when I ask you about them, you seem so uninterested in them. It's just weird seeing you be the one pining over someone."

"They were just hook ups," I grumble. "They knew that, just like I did. He's different."

"That's what Jared said you said."
