The next two months had gone relatively well considering Sacharissa's threat against Ominis. While he had managed to convince her to keep the betrothal a secret for now, he agreed to put on a happy face with her in public in return.
When he wasn't walking on eggshells around her, he was defiant about the whole thing. He continued to sit with MC in every class and had regular study sessions in the library with her.
Luckily, Sacharissa's schedule differed greatly from Ominis'. They only shared a couple of classes together and he spent his free periods with MC while Sacharissa was attending her electives. He took advantage of her ignorance and decided he was going to spend as much time with MC as possible.
While he still could.
Sebastian noticed how his oldest friend whom he had always sat with for years had practically abandoned him for MC. He didn't feel resentment, but rather confusion.
He watched them joke and laugh together at the desk next to his in Charms class. He hadn't seen Ominis so happy in years, and he had never seen MC laugh so cheerfully and look so carefree before. He couldn't help but wonder what was going on between them if anything at all.
He only knew one thing for certain: he preferred seeing him spending time with MC instead of Sacharissa as he had been. Sebastian cringed at the reminder of their newfound odd 'friendship'.
As Professor Ronen dismissed class, Sebastian gently placed his hand on Ominis' shoulder, earning his attention.
"Have a moment, Om? I need to ask you something."
Ominis nodded. "Of course." He turned back to MC. "See you at the library, MC? I'll be there shortly."
"I'll grab us a table," she assured him and walked off. Sebastian led Ominis to a bench in the hall outside the classroom.
"What's with you and MC?" he asked quizzically as he sat down. "I've never seen you so... engaged in conversation with someone before. Not even with me or Anne."
Ominis shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "What do you mean?"
"I've just... never seen you spend so much time with someone, Om. Hell, I think you've spent more time with MC in these last several weeks than you have with me in the last six years."
"Oh, don't be dramatic, Sebastian. She's just a good friend, that's all. It's a breath of fresh air from your tomfoolery for once," Ominis said with a slight chuckle.
'Just a good friend.' Sebastian rolled his eyes at the notion. He hesitated to pull out his Ace, but he knew that Ominis' stubbornness warranted it. Sebastian knew that he wasn't going to fess up to anything, so he laid the card on the figurative table.
"Ominis, do you know you talk in your sleep?"
Ominis quickly turned his head towards Sebastian. "What?"
"You do. What you say tends to range from night terrors concerning your childhood to random gibberish. But recently, you've been saying her name, Om. You once said you loved her."
Ominis scoffed. "I've had plenty of dreams about plenty of people, Sebastian. I had countless dreams about you while you were engrossed in that damned relic."
"Did you have a hard-on during those dreams too, or just the ones that contain MC?"
Ominis' breath hitched in his throat and Sebastian immediately took notice of his flushed face. "I don't know what you're talking about."
