Ominis POV

"What the hell, Sacharissa? I thought we had agreed not to disclose the engagement!"

I was furious. This crazy bitch had been spying on me, controlling me, and now following me. MC would still be here if it wasn't for her, on the date that I desperately wanted to be real.

"Yeah, we had also agreed that you wouldn't be seen with other girls outside of class." She poked my chest. "You broke the accord first! I simply leveled the playing field."

It was clear to me now: if she couldn't have me, no one else could. I stood up from my chair, hoping to catch up to MC.

"You are the cruelest bitch, Sacharissa. You took an innocent party in all of this and dragged her through the mud."

"Need I remind you, Ominis? You're the one that involved her. How did you think I would feel seeing my fiancé on a full-fledged date with another girl? Thought I wouldn't find out?"

"You don't have to worry about me being your fiancé any longer. This wedding is officially off. Have a shitty life, Sacharissa."

I began to wander off, desperate for my wand to find MC.

She called out once more behind me, "Fully expect to hear from your folks in the coming days. It was nice knowing you, Omi. You've lived a good life," she ended with a cackle.

But I didn't care. I didn't care if tonight was my last night alive. If I had to spend it apologizing and explaining my heart out to MC, I would happily do so.

I continued my journey looking for her. After a couple of hours in the village and surrounding hills with no luck, I gave up, hoping she had simply gone back to the castle.

It was late. I surmised that many folks were settling into bed for the evening based on the emptiness of the halls. When I reached the all-too-familiar snake archway in the dungeons, my heart stopped.

This whole time, I hadn't once thought of how I would approach MC and explain myself. She deserved a proper and well thought out explanation, but I had prepared nothing. I guess I'll just wing it, say what comes from the heart as it comes.

I had nothing left to lose anymore.

The common room was empty and quiet save for the crackling fireplace. I was disappointed at MC's absence there, hoping she would be curled up in its warmth reading as she often did. But she had probably gone right to sleep.

I wouldn't want to see me either.

I dragged myself up the stairs to my dorm and opened the door. The room was empty. I had chalked it up to my roommates ringing in the weekend in some girls' beds somewhere, as was often the case.

I had made it to my wardrobe, gathering my toiletries to go take a warm bath when the door slammed shut behind me.

I quickly turned to find out who it was. For a split second, I was paranoid that my father had already heard the news and was ready to inflict whatever punishment he had in store for wrecking his lineage.

But it was Sebastian. He had intentionally been quiet so as to 'hide' from me and my wand. His fists were clenched and his breathing was heavy.

MC must have got to him first.

Suddenly, I was more afraid of him than I was of my own father.

He started first. "Really, Ominis?! Engaged? What the fuck?!" He began to swiftly approach me, hands still fisted.
