"You're joking," MC said with skepticism.

"Nope," Ominis said confidently.

"Ominis, we finally have an out from this hell hole and you want to carry on with it like nothing happened?"

He reached for her hand again. Luckily, she didn't pull away this time. "I know, MC, but please trust me when I say my parents won't believe us without proof. If they think we're trying to sabotage everything, it won't be good for either of us, and I refuse to put you in harm's way. Let's wait for her to have the baby, and when it obviously looks more like Marvolo than me, we can bust out the accusations and nullify the marriages. Then, we'll run away together with a clean slate. Please trust me, sweetheart."

Her breath hitched in her throat at the sound of his pet name for her again. "What did you say?"

He took his other hand and held the side of her face. "My sweet."

She leaned into his touch and closed her eyes, pressing her forehead to his for the first time in forever. "Ominis..." she whispered. She could cry at the feeling of his tenderness again.

Their lips parted and hovered over the other's. Something was stopping them as if they both thought it was wrong for them to kiss again. But they said fuck it, finally crashing their lips together and ending their months-long hiatus from each other.

After a slow makeout, they released, breathing heavily against each other. She was so caught up in his touch that she had completely forgotten he was naked beneath the sheets right next to her.

"Fuck, I've missed you, my love. But why were you here?" she whispered.

He held her face with both hands. "I've never felt such agony before in my life until you left, MC. I prayed every day that I would lose my sight again just so I wouldn't have to see you with him. I couldn't bear to be away from you. I had been missing you so much that I had to have you in some way. You are my everything."

"How many times have you come here?"

He paused. "I'll just say several. I've mainly been taking naps here during the day when I knew you'd be busy, but I've spent an occasional night here when I knew you were back at the dorm. I needed to feel close to you, just like I did the day after you found out about the engagement in Hogsmeade. I couldn't stand to be away from my girl any longer."

She had to be sure. "So, you never stopped loving me?"

He exhaled deeply. "Oh, god, MC, I could never stop loving you even if I tried. The hold you have on me is ridiculous. Just ask Sebastian, I was a lost man without you. I wasn't myself the whole time." He caressed her cheek with his thumb. "Please, never walk away from me again."

She held his triceps. "Never," she whispered.

He leaned into her lips again. This was it, she finally had him back. She could tell he was his old true self again, that signature tenderness was unmistakable.

She wasn't about to let him go ever again. She was more determined than ever to ensure they had a future together.

She wasn't going to let it slip away this time.

All she had to do was marry his brother and they would be home free. Seems simple enough.

They spent the next two weeks finishing out their time at Hogwarts. They also met in the Room of Requirement anytime they could, tying up loose ends, so to speak. The symphony that their bodies made together was like a rediscovered song that had been lost to time. They blew the dust off and played away.
