Sebastian got up early the next morning to make time to see MC before classes. He paid her a brief visit and when he was satisfied with her condition, he went to breakfast.
He needed to talk to Ominis.
As he had done in recent days, it was no surprise to find him sitting with Sacharissa at the Hufflepuff table. He had apparently gotten close to her friends as well because they were all enthralled with him, hanging off his every word.
Sebastian approached and tapped his shoulder. "Ominis. I need to speak with you."
Ominis only gave him a quick look before turning back to the table. "Find me after class, Sebastian. Can't you see I'm busy at the moment?"
Sebastian furrowed his brows and crossed his arms. "Now, Om. It's about MC."
The group suddenly grew quiet at the sound of her name as if she was some sort of specter haunting all of them.
Ominis stood up and faced his friend. "Why on earth would I need to talk about her? She seemed pretty content with her new 'friend' last week, partially thanks to you, I might add. Go find him to talk about her."
He began to sit back down but Sebastian gripped his robe.
Sacharissa stood up and slammed her hands on the table. "Get your hands off of him right now!"
Sebastian kept his gaze on Ominis while he spoke. "Piss off, Tugwood. There's some serious shit at play here, Ominis, you have no idea."
Ominis remained calm. "And just why should I care? She certainly stopped taking me into account."
"No, she didn't! She's always put you first! For Merlin's sake, Om, she gave you your sight!"
Ominis tore Sebastian's grip off him. "Yeah, so she could have me watch as she flirted with another man. I don't take kindly to being played with, Sebastian. I told her my reservations about Emmett and she disregarded me. As far as I'm concerned, she made her choice."
He sat back down and held Sacharissa's hand with a smile. "And I've made mine."
Sebastian was stunned at the affection towards another girl. He never thought he would see the day when Ominis was excited to not be with MC. Now he sees that she wasn't exaggerating when she said they were making love and not fucking.
After a few seconds of thought, Sebastian had one final question for his now ex-friend. "So, you're just going to let her go? Just like that?"
Ominis didn't even turn to face him. "She let me go, Sebastian. Now, don't bring her up around me or my fiancé again."
"Ominis, you know I won't be able to side with you on this if you make this decision."
Ominis only chuckled. "Fine! It wouldn't surprise me, it would give you two the freedom to go fuck again."
Sebastian rolled his eyes. "We didn't fuck, Om, you know that! You know what? Fine." He pointed to Sacharissa. "I hope she keeps you warm at night because it's all you'll ever have. Just her cold, bony shell of a personality. You'll never have either of us again, you audacious prick."
Without waiting for a response, Sebastian left the Great Hall and made his way to his first class. He avoided Ominis in the classes they shared together but stared daggers at him the whole time.
'If he's so quick to let her go, he never really cared for her in the first place. He only used her, just like a Gaunt would,' he presumed. The conclusion sent him into an internal rage, one that he had to force down as he made his way to the Hospital Wing after classes had ended for the day. He didn't want her to see him like that.
