Dante's POV

Oh God... Oh God. I'm panicking!!! Why is Delta here?! Why are Arman, Ichika, Taka- everyone here!? This has to be a dream. Or a nightmare. Or both!

I mean, deep down... I'm extremely happy to see them again. They were my team. My family. But not like this! Not while I'm wearing a waiter uniform and carrying menus instead of Dragon. Not after disappearing for years with no explanation. Not after quitting Beyblade.

What if they ask why I didn't join the Battle Royal? What if they ask where Dragon is? What if they ask why I stopped blading?! They'll ask a hundred questions, and I have zero answers!

I start pacing the small staff room like a madman. My thoughts are racing, crashing into each other, spinning faster than a Bey in the center of the stadium. Hot steam might as well be coming out of my head. I feel like I'm about to burst.

I groan loudly and flop against the doorframe. I reach into my pocket and pull out Dragon. His paint's a little scratched, but I still keep him with me everywhere. I gently run my fingers over his blades. He doesn't shine like he used to in battle. But to me, he still feels... alive.

"I wish you were really here, Dragon. I miss you, buddy."

I stand there with him in my hand, just thinking about everything that led to this moment. How I lost control. How Dragon burst. How I walked away. And how I never told anyone why.

Knock! Knock!

"Wah-!" I nearly drop Dragon, but catch him just in time. I clutch him tight before looking up to see one of my coworkers standing at the door.

"Can't you see I'm having a private moment here?" I frown, trying to act calm even though my heart is pounding.

He just gives me a tired look. "You should stop talking to a Bey. People will think you've lost it. That thing's not alive, you know."

"Dragon is not a thing! He's my best friend!" I snap, tucking him safely back into my pocket. He doesn't get it. No one does. Dragon might not talk back, but he's always been there. Always listened.

"Sure, whatever," he mutters. "But if the boss catches you hiding here, you're dead. Get back to work."

I pout, but deep down I know he's right. The boss will explode if she finds out I'm hiding.

Still... What do I even say to them?

I glance at myself in the mirror, messy blond hair, apron slightly crooked. I fix it as best I can. Then I grab my pen and notepad. Gotta at least look like I've got my life together.

I take a deep breath.

Alright, Dante. You've survived countless Bey battles. You can survive this. I walk out of the staff room and toward their table.

I can do this. I think. Probably.

Delta's POV

I kept my gaze fixed on the staff room door while only half-listening to the chatter happening around me. Arman and the others were trading theories about why Dante was working here instead of showing up at the Battle Royal. Most of what they were saying was utter nonsense. One of them even suggested he was undercover for some secret Blader mission. Idiots.

But I didn't correct them. It wasn't worth it.

My eyes stayed locked on that door. Something about this situation... didn't sit right with me.
