KASHISH
Three weeks passed, yet the ache in my heart was still fresh, as if everything had happened just an hour ago. I took three days off and later resumed my hospital duties because I couldn't fuck around with my responsible job.
My life already fucked up.
I was on the terrace, looking at the moon. Kainaat's penthouse was near the lake, a good ten feet away. She liked lakes. The view was breathtaking, especially when the moon's rays reflected off its blue surface.
My mind had only one thought. Ranvijay. I was pulled back again to the beautiful moments I'd shared with him.
"Look at the sky." I pleaded. "Doesn't it seem like an awful husband trying to placate his wife?" Ranvijay let out a chuckle. We were at farmhouse to spent some quality time. And tonight, I forced him to watch stars with me. First, he grimaced but later accepted.
Ranvijay prepared all the things. He cleaned the whole lake area, and had transformed the ground into a perfect cozy spot for the two of us—a space filled with piles of cushions and soft pillows. The few white lights strung up, beautifully illuminating his hard work. It looked exactly like indoor camping.
"Your mind is quite imaginative." He brushed a thumb over my cheek. "Don't tell me you never made up stories around stars." I raised an eyebrow. I knew he never did, as he wasn't a nature lover.
"My mind is creative, but not as imaginative as yours." This time, I was the one who frowned.
"My mind is more creative than yours. And I had active imaginations when I was a child, okay?" I nudged him in the ribs."You're turning red, Raaje." He nodded at my red cheeks. I was sensitive to winter, which was why I usually prefer rainy season but I didn't want to miss any chance to spend the night with him under the sky.
"Clumsy winter, you know." I blinked up. "I can't help it." This time he smiled. "But you're looking adorable." He snuggled me closer to his chest, giving me some for his warmth.
"I'll warm you up." His hold tightened around me. Grumpy, Ranvijay was charming in some ways. But sweet, Ranvijay was sweet torment to my heart. "Ran..." He hummed in response.
"Have you ever made a wish on a shooting star?" I moved my gaze from the sky to find him staring at me without blinking. "Only once," he whispered, rubbing his nose tip with mine. "And you, Jaan. Have you ever made a wish on a shooting star?"
"I did once," I whispered, playing with his shirt buttons. And it was you. My only wish, Ran. He kissed my forehead, making my heart flutter.
"Okay!" I sat up straight. "Sing me a song." He shook his head.
"One. Just one. Please." I leaned forward and kissed his cheeks so I could give him some bribe."Are you manipulating me?" I nodded. "Fine!" My smile widened, and I hugged him. He walked inside the house and came back with a guitar in hand. In the meantime, I made mountain-style Maggi. I just boiled the water and dropped the Maggi into the pen. Ranvijay did all the chopping work.
"A live performance wasn't on the list tonight," Ranvijay said. "I hope I'll get paid for the performance." I smiled, shaking my head. And a second later, he opened his mouth and my heart simply stopped. Cold winds and his raw voice gave me goosebumps at the same time. His closed eyes told me how much he loved music.
I couldn't take my eyes off his face. Today, this song hit me differently, making me fascinated with the lyrics. It was a song about a love that bloomed around roses, expressing how your lover captured your heart, your mind, your soul.
