To a galaxy ranger far from his decimated home, there is nowhere for him to truly feel safe or secure, unless he is here, with you..
well, i wouldn't say its exactly the safest place.
"Would you stop moving!"
Boothill grunted and snarled at you before looking off and crossing his arms, "Stop bossin' me around!" he retorted scornfully. His hat and unnecessary clothes were left aside so you were able to remove the metal casing without issue.
"If i end up cutting something important it's bye bye, cowboy." you reminded and listened to him scoff and look off to the side. Recently Boothill was complaining of his body getting excessively hot for no real reason, and while you were no doctor, you were experienced in cyborg and robotic repairs.
"Your coolant system is damaged." You hummed and carefully undid a few things in order to remove the damaged part. Boothill looked back and whistled, "Well fudge..i don't 'member takin' a beatin' bad enough to go damagin' that thing." he grumbled, his accent as thick as ever.
"Something else probably took the hit for it so it received just enough damage to stop working." you sighed and shook it around before tossing it aside. "I have a replacement, sit tight for a moment cowboy." you hummed and got up, leaving the room for a moment.
Boothill watched you go and resisted the urge to whistle, looking at the ceiling and grumbling before he sat up slightly and leaned onto his elbows to look at his mechanical innards while he waited on you to come back.
You rummaged around until you found what you were looking for, coming back with a sparkly new system to keep his mechanical parts from overheating and causing worse issues. "Here we go.." you hummed and pushed him back down.
"You-" He grumbled and bit his tongue, laying back again and tapping his fingers against the table. You carefully installed the new system and quickly scanned over the rest of the parts to make sure nothing else was damaged or not working, patting yourself on the back and picking up his metal casing.
"Alright, lids goin' back on." you smiled and put the first layer on and made sure it was secure before adding the second one that added the more muscular detail. Once he knew he was good to go he sat up and tapped his stomach.
"Man, This things more like a coffin." he grumbled and looked over as you sorted your tools and put your things away. "That's nice to hear from a non-paying customer." you hummed and double checked your tools hadn't dulled at all.
He moved off the stiff bed and walked over to you, snaking his arms around you and pulled you close until you were hip to hip with him. You looked back and hummed, relaxing a little and leaning back.
"Awh c'mon, you'd miss me Sugar." he hummed and set his chin on your head and looked at the myriad of tools before the both of you. "Being your own coffin is better then not having one at all." he shrugged and before you could do much to stop him he spun you around and pulled you away from the table.
Just enough for him to pick you up like a sack of potatoes, carrying you over his shoulder and laughing as you fussed. "Hey cowboy! I thought your mama woulda taught you to treat your lover nice!" you grumbled.
"She did! But is funny as fudge watchin' you fuss like a pussy cat!" he teased, squeezing your legs for a moment before he stopped for a moment to open the door. The cozy and warm fresh air flooded in, making you feel a little more relaxed as he carried you outside.
Your home was in a distant place in the cosmos, Since most cyborg and robotic repairs are meant to be done by the corporations that made them, you were the cheaper and less legal option, luckily said corporation didn't seem to care much about your buisness.
So your home was remote, and you did the work to feed yourself out in the vast grasslands you lived in. Sure, there was a few small towns dotted across the planet but you still were ages away.
"What are you carrying me out here for cowboy?" you grumbled and looked at the back of his head, if he had his hat on, you'd swat it off just to annoy him. "To lay 'n the grass." he mused and set you down, a toothy grin greeting you once your feet touched the ground.
"Yeah? But why?" you asked but, he had already flopped and found a comfy spot along the grass, "Just lay down, you'll see why Sugar." he hummed and chuckled as you sighed in defeat and laid down.
He pulled you close before putting his hands behind his head and smiling, "There.." he muttered softly, you stared at him in confusion before shaking your head. "Don't you ha-" you started but shut your trap, figuring it wasn't worth it.
"Dorkus." you teased and laid back as well, the sun was bright and warm, it wouldn't be hard for you to fall asleep out here. Boothill just seemed to enjoy the peace, closing his eyes and listening to the sounds of wind weaving between the plains.
"Take a nap if you feel like it, Darlin'. I'll be here." he hummed and looked at you as you covered your mouth and yawned. "Leave it to you to drag me outside to sleep on the dirt." you grumbled stubbornly and turned your head to shoot him a petty glare.
But he just smiled, lopsided and a little silly, "Hey! Maybe i was thinkin' of carryin' you inside after a bit!" he chuckled and put his hands behind his head and hummed. "So just rest, your pretty little head still needs it." he state and side eyed you before closing his eyes.
You sighed and rolled onto your side and used your arms as your pillows, it was shocking how fast you fell asleep, you weren't even trying.
Boothill opened his eyes once he'd figured you were asleep, smiling slightly before sighing "Wish i could lay out here all the time.." he muttered to himself, watching the clouds roll by "Really does make a guy just want to sleep.." he mumbled softly, closing his eyes again.
Surely you wouldn't be too mad if he fell asleep too..right?
