"Serious, calculated, and aloof, she's a powerful vigilante who's shrouded in mystery. She's notorious among heroes, villains, and everyone in-between. Despite being an enemy to heroes, she's often aided them in their work leading people to believe that she's granted some sort of immunity by them. Contrarily, law enforcement have been trying to apprehend her for decades and she always escapes their grasps. She knows the ins-and-outs of society, and rumors say that she knows the society's darkest secrets. Years of hardship made her a callous woman, but deep down lies a gentle heart."
In the 1st draft, she used to be the leader of the vigilantes, but I changed it in this book. I think she's kinda cool. Rin inherited her Quirk from Corvade. Besides being Rin's birth mom, she's a kind of mentor figure to her. Their relationship is complicated, so I'm excited to expand on it and write some mother-daughter bonding moments.
To recap thus far: Corvade and Ryusaki's dad was the yakuza boss of Venom's Bane. There was bad blood between her and her dad, and she eventually ran off to become a vigilante. I feel bad for Corvade because of her past, especially ▇▇. Her past will be explored in the next book!
"Hiro is a pleasant young man who's a lover of comics and heroes. He tends to be an overprotective nuisance to Rin because of his stubbornness. Part of this stubbornness stems from his instinctual overthinking and once that gets rolling, it's difficult to stop him. He used to be a bit wild back in the day but luckily mellowed with age. That said, when his loved ones are threatened, he'll revert and do everything in his power to defend them."
Like Rin, he had different iterations. Hiro 1.0 was the younger brother and his name was Ryusaki. He was a kid genius who helped Rin cheat her way into U.A. Hiro 2.0 was mostly the same, except I added sibling angst and made him more of a gremlin. Then in 3.0 (aka the 1st version of Zero Hero), he became the older brother, his name changed to Hiro, and his personality changed. He was a Pro Hero in this iteration. It's practically the same to the current Hiro except for a few minor things. When I was writing Zero Hero, I decided to change his occupation and make him work for the Hero Public Safety Commission for...plot reasons. You'll find out later.
Oh, Hiro... Poor old Hiro. You know I had to do it to him; it was Rin's canon event. Trust me, it hurt me more than it hurt you.
While Rin's mom (Anri) stayed the same from the original, Ryusaki's occupation changed like Hiro's. He became a police officer, because I thought it'd be funny if he met Rin on-duty. Also, it'll spice things up for Rin in the sequel ;)
As explained in the book, Ryusaki used to be in Venom's Bane. He and Corvade grew up with Kiyoshi who basically was like a brother to them. After their dad was defeated by Nana Shimura, the group disbanded. While Ryusaki was definitely a delinquent back in the day, he wasn't outright malicious like his dad. He did reject on becoming the next yakuza boss, after all. He's just a tsundere and still is, and his wife is totally into it.
Parents tend to be ignored in fanfiction, so I wanted them to be present in the story. Ryusaki played a huge role this time, and I plan on continuing with his appearances. Anri didn't get much attention but she'll appear more in book 2. I'm looking forward to that!
