☆ Part 10 ☆

After a while it was time for the show and the energy around the circus was insane. 

Even though these people had been doing this for their entire lives and would be doing it for the rest of eternity, they still seemed excited to get to perform. You helped hand out everyone's costumes when they couldn't find them backstage and hung out with Kamille before the show started. After everyone was ready the mood totally shifted and everyone calmed down to be ready for the show. 

You were allowed to sit backstage with Kamille and anyone else who helped with the show or running the circus as long as you stayed out of the way of the performers. The view was amazing and you got to see each act up close. You had just watched the show as an actual audience member the other night but this felt completely different, now these people were your coworkers and friends as it really all felt surreal when you thought about it. The balancing acts made you want to hold your breath, hoping they wouldn't fall. The aerial acts were amazing to watch, some of the tricks seemed impossible yet looked so graceful as they were performed. The Clowns were funny of course and the animals were adorable, but there was one act that stood out. 

The next act was the illusionist's act, which meant Sahed and Rainah. You watched as he performed magic tricks, which probably really were magic, but had to be disguised as tricks to avoid getting in trouble. His persona on stage was different than his usual self, more serious but showy, the mask he wore to hide his third eye made him seem more mysterious than usual. As he finished his last trick he looked around the circus as everyone applauded him and noticed you. Your eyes locked and he smiled, bowing once more and winking at you. 'Showoff' you thought, trying to ignore the fact that if you weren't already, you were now definitely head over heels for this man.

"Oooh he's got you down baaaaad" Kamille laughed, noticing the interaction and the fact that your face was red once more.

"Is it that obvious??" You whined, covering your face in embarrassment.

"Um, yeah. It's ok though, I'm rooting for you two" she chuckled, finding all of this too funny.

"Don't say anything to him please???" You begged her, not knowing if you could survive the humiliation of him knowing this.

"I won't mention it to Sahed" she smiled and you knew she meant it.

That night when you went to bed you could hear the bonfire party going on. They were quite loud despite it being past midnight already and part of you wondered what they were up to. You knew Sahed and Rainah didn't attend but from the sounds of it, everyone else did. You pulled your pillow over your head to muffle the sound and eventually drifted off to sleep.

This was your life now, every day you did pretty much the same thing, yet somehow it was always fun and exciting. You helped with costumes, puppets, dog walking and Kamille trusted you to also do makeup for performers if they needed help. You had now been in the circus for roughly a month and had traveled more than you ever had in life. Your room was now decorated with trinkets from the different stops, as well as art that you made in your free time and you really felt like you fit in here. The circus felt like a home. Also your crush on Sahed definitely didn't go anywhere and you were always happy to see him. Though you didn't work together on anything, you were still with him a lot, he was your best friend at this point other than Kamille, though it definitely felt like sometimes he was trying to flirt with you. Unfortunately you were really bad at picking up on that sort of thing and could never tell if he meant it or not. You had other friends here as well but you weren't as close with them. Plip on Plop were chill, although they didn't talk you guys sometimes did art projects together, you also hung out with Kamille and Julia in the costume workshop and the girls who did trapeze often let you join in if you felt like it, though you felt bad because you forgot their names (you were terrible with names).
