Engagement Planning

Within days, the Mehra and Mehta households buzzed with frantic energy. Plans were being set in motion, arrangements made, and family meetings held. Invitations were printed on heavy, embossed paper, invitations that spoke of wealth and power. A venue was chosen—the grand Rosette Hall—a venue fit for such a union between two influential families.

Saanvi's parents busied themselves with the details, choosing decorations and finalizing the guest list. Her mother insisted on visiting florists, while her father had his mind set on the business alliances this marriage would forge. Saanvi remained distant, barely involving herself, silently observing the way her life was being orchestrated without her true consent.

Meanwhile, Ishaan’s parents were equally focused, finalizing the engagement date and arranging every detail to perfection. His father left nothing to chance, overseeing each aspect as if it were a corporate merger rather than his son’s engagement. Ishaan watched, amused and slightly detached, allowing them to plan while he observed with cold calculation, never losing sight of his endgame.

A New Arrival: Anaya Mehta Returns

The roar of an engine broke the quiet afternoon air as a sleek red sports car pulled up to the Mehta estate. The driver’s door flew open, and out stepped a whirlwind in the form of Anaya Mehta. Ishaan’s younger sister, she had returned from her studies abroad, her eyes wide with a mix of excitement and barely contained rage.

“What the hell, Ishaan!” she exclaimed as she stormed through the front door, her movements quick and impatient. “You are getting engaged, and I have to find out through a family email?!”

Ishaan, who had been in the lounge sipping his morning coffee, didn’t even flinch. He looked up at his sister with a lazy smile, enjoying her flustered state. “Welcome home, Anaya. Nice to see you too.”

Anaya shot him a glare, her temper already flaring. “Don’t ‘nice to see you’ me! What is this nonsense about you getting engaged to Saanvi Mehra? I mean, seriously, Ishaan? Since when do you agree to anything our parents want?”

Ishaan shrugged, setting down his cup. “It’s a strategic move, Anaya. A merger, you could say. And besides,” he added with a faint smirk, “she’s not as easy to handle as you’d think. I have my reasons.”

“Your reasons?” Anaya huffed, throwing her designer handbag onto the nearest chair. “Don’t give me that mysterious crap. You’re up to something, I can tell.” She crossed her arms, her foot tapping impatiently as she looked him over. “I just got back, and already this family is a mess. Again.”

“Yes, well, you were always the first to make a scene,” Ishaan said with a grin. “Nothing’s changed, I see.”

Anaya’s eyes flashed with irritation, but she couldn’t suppress a smile. “Well, someone has to. And don’t think I’m going to let you get away with whatever twisted plan you have for Saanvi.”

Ishaan’s smile widened, but his eyes remained unreadable. “Oh, Anaya, I wouldn’t dream of hiding anything from you. Now, are you here to help with the engagement or to start another fight?”

“Both,” Anaya shot back, smirking. “And don’t think I’m letting you off the hook that easily. I’m here to make sure you don’t turn this whole thing into a disaster.”

With that, she plopped down on the nearest sofa, her usual clumsiness making her knock over a small stack of magazines. “Oops,” she said with a sheepish grin, picking them up quickly.
