“Let go, Ishaan,” she snapped, trying to wrench her arm free. “This is my fight. My family is at risk here.”
Ishaan tightened his hold, his gaze dark and unyielding. “No, Saanvi. Rushing in there blindly will only make things worse. You need to think rationally, not let anger drive you.”
Saanvi glared at him, her voice rising with frustration. “You think I don’t know that? This isn’t just anger—it’s survival! My family is being hunted, and one of your precious Mehtas is in on it! If you’re too afraid to face the truth, fine. But don’t hold me back.”
His eyes flashed with irritation, but he kept his tone calm, even as his fingers dug into her arm. “And what good would it do if you walked straight into a trap? I told you, I’ll handle this. Stop trying to prove you can do everything on your own.”
She scoffed, finally yanking her arm out of his grasp. “This isn’t about proving anything, Ishaan. You wouldn’t understand because you don’t care about anyone but yourself. This is my family, and if one of your family members is responsible, I’ll make them pay. Don’t try to shield your people.”
He stepped closer, his expression hardening. “Be careful with your words, Saanvi. You have no proof that a Mehta is behind this. All you have is a theory, and I won’t let you destroy everything based on that.”
She looked up at him defiantly, her voice laced with cold fury. “So what, you want me to sit back and watch while this unknown threat chips away at my life, my family? I’ll tear down anyone who stands with him, Mehta or not. And if you get in my way again, I won’t hold back.”
Ishaan clenched his jaw, his face mere inches from hers as he spoke, his tone dangerously low. “Watch yourself, Saanvi. You’re walking on thin ice. I’m trying to keep you safe, but if you want a fight, you’ll get one. Just know that when you start this war, there’s no going back.”
Her eyes narrowed, not flinching as she met his gaze head-on. “This war started long before you even entered my life, Mr. Mehta. But mark my words: if I find out that someone in your family has betrayed mine, I’ll be the one to finish it. And I’ll bring down every last Mehta if I have to.”
As Saanvi made her way towards the exit, her heels clicked with fierce determination against the floor. She didn’t spare a glance back, her entire demeanor cold and resolute, masking the turmoil she felt within. The anger and frustration from her confrontation with Ishaan still simmered beneath her composed facade.
Rohan, sensing her tension and the undeniable weight of everything she was carrying, stepped forward quickly to stop her. “Saanvi, wait,” he called, reaching out to grab her wrist gently. “Don’t go alone. Let us help you.”
Saanvi’s jaw tightened as she looked back, meeting Rohan’s gaze with a hard, unyielding look, but there was a flicker of vulnerability in her eyes. “Don’t, Rohan,” she said, her voice steady but lined with suppressed emotion. “I don’t need anyone following me around. I’m not a child.”
Rohan’s face softened with concern, his hand still holding her wrist as he replied, “I know, Saanvi. But you’re not alone in this. Don’t push everyone away.”
Just then, Ishaan’s voice cut in, low and intense. “Rohan, let her go.” He stepped forward, his gaze never wavering from Saanvi’s. “She wants to handle everything herself. Let her do it.”
Saanvi narrowed her eyes at Ishaan, her tone steely as she spoke. “Don’t think you can dictate what I do, Ishaan. I’m not one of your men.”
Ishaan crossed his arms, an unmovable force. “No, you’re not. You’re my wife—Mrs. Saanvi Ishaan Mehta—and that means you’re not charging off to fight a war on your own, especially one that involves my family too.”
Saanvi clenched her fists, her voice a mix of anger and raw emotion. “You still don’t get it, do you? This isn’t about being Mrs. Mehta. It’s about the people I love being in danger. I’m not waiting around for permission to protect them.”
Ishaan’s eyes narrowed, his voice dark and calm, laced with authority. “And I’m not letting my wife walk into a trap alone because of some misguided sense of duty. You think this is just your battle, Saanvi? Fine. But you’re not doing this alone. If anyone is taking down these traitors, it’s going to be both of us.”
Saanvi took a steady breath, her voice softer now, though the pain in her eyes was evident. “I’ve been fighting alone all my life, Ishaan. Trusting anyone to stand by me... that doesn’t come easy.”
Rohan, sensing the heavy tension between them, released her wrist gently, looking between them with concern. “Please, both of you... maybe it’s better if we work together on this. You’re both on the same side.”
Saanvi glanced at Rohan, her expression softening briefly before turning back to Ishaan, her eyes hardened once more. “If you’re really on my side, Ishaan, prove it. But don’t expect me to sit back and wait while my family is targeted.”
She turned sharply, brushing past both men, leaving the room with purpose, her emotions warring beneath her composed facade. Ishaan watched her go, frustration etched in his features, but there was something else—something he couldn’t shake.
Saanvi stormed past the car, her heels clicking sharply as she made her way down the dimly lit path. She was still seething from her argument with Ishaan, and the last thing she wanted was to be anywhere near him. But before she could take another step, a strong grip pulled her back, and suddenly, she was lifted off the ground.
"Ishaan, put me down!" she hissed, struggling in his arms, her eyes flashing with rage. "I swear, if you don’t—”
Ishaan held her tighter, his voice low and commanding as he looked into her eyes. "You’re done running off, Mrs. Saanvi Ishaan Mehta," he said darkly, a smirk playing on his lips. "You can be as angry as you want, but you’re not going anywhere alone."
Saanvi glared at him, her voice dripping with venom. “You don’t control me, Ishaan. I don’t care if we’re married; I’m not one of your possessions.”
Unfazed, Ishaan carried her over to the car, his grip unrelenting. "Oh, I know you’re not. But I’m not letting you out of my sight tonight,” he murmured, his gaze intense, sending an involuntary shiver through her even as she struggled.
“Ishaan, put me down now!” she demanded, her voice filled with defiance.
He looked down at her, his voice softening but his tone still firm. “Stop fighting me, Saanvi. I’m not your enemy.” He reached the car and, without hesitation, opened the passenger door, setting her down in the seat with a finality that made it clear she wasn’t getting out.
Saanvi tried to stand, but Ishaan placed a hand on her shoulder, his eyes narrowing. “Don’t even think about it,” he warned, his voice a mix of dominance and something deeper—a raw protectiveness she hadn’t seen before. "I know you think you can do this alone, but tonight, I’m driving. You’re going to sit here, and you’re going to let me help you."
Saanvi’s jaw clenched, her hands balled into fists. “You’re unbelievable, Ishaan. Why are you so insistent on this? You’re the one obsessed with revenge; remember that. This is my family in danger.”
Ishaan leaned closer, his eyes intense, and for a moment, his voice softened, though it was still laced with a dark possessiveness. “You can hate me all you want, Saanvi. But tonight, you’re going to sit here, with me, while we figure this out. I’m not letting anyone touch you.”
Before she could respond, Rohan appeared, glancing between them with a mix of curiosity and tension. “Uh... everything alright here?”
Ishaan straightened, nodding at Rohan, his expression unreadable. "We’re fine. Get in," he instructed, sliding into the driver’s seat with a final, determined glance at Saanvi.
Rohan climbed into the back seat, watching them both carefully. As Ishaan started the car and they pulled out, Saanvi crossed her arms, glaring out the window, her body still tense.
