As Saanvi entered the grand Mehta mansion, the air was thick with a mix of excitement and tension. The sight that greeted her was unexpected: Aahana sprawled across the living room floor, surrounded by a chaotic array of dresses in every color imaginable.
Saanvi raised an eyebrow. "What's all this?"
Aahana looked up, a grin spreading across her face. "Ishaan asked me to help you get ready for tonight. He's worried that you'll just throw on whatever and ruin our plans."
Saanvi rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "And here I thought I could dress myself. Why does everyone think I need help?"
"Because you have a tendency to dress for battle, not parties," Aahana replied, laughing. "This is different, Saanvi. We need to look... normal. You know, blend in."
"Blend in?" Saanvi scoffed, stepping closer to examine the dresses. "You know I don't do 'normal.' I'm a mafia queen, remember?"
"Exactly," Aahana said, picking up a shimmering silver gown. "That's why you need to look stunningly beautiful and not like you're ready to take down a rival gang. Let's make sure you look the part."
Saanvi studied the dress, her expression softening. "Fine. But if Ishaan thinks I'll just stand there and play nice while he handles everything, he's got another thing coming."
Aahana chuckled. "He knows you better than that. He just wants you to be safe. The party's going to be full of people who might recognize us or know too much. We can't take any chances."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Saanvi sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "Alright, let's see what you've got."
As Aahana sifted through the pile of dresses, Saanvi leaned against the wall with a mischievous grin, clearly ready to stir the pot. "By the way, how was your first night with Rohan, hnnn?"
Aahana's face instantly flushed a deep shade of crimson. "Saanvi! Seriously? You're going to go there?" She pretended to be focused on the dresses, but her embarrassment was evident.
"What? I'm just asking," Saanvi teased, walking closer. "You two practically had the whole wedding thing going on, and now you're officially a married couple. Did you, you know, consummate the marriage?"
Aahana shot her a look of mock indignation, but there was a playful spark in her eyes. "Can we not talk about my personal life right now? We have more pressing issues to discuss-like how you're going to avoid being recognized at this party."
Saanvi chuckled, shaking her head. "Oh, come on! I can't believe I'm the only one who gets to have some fun around here. You're married now! Shouldn't you be all starry-eyed and lovey-dovey?"
Aahana rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a smile. "I am happy! Rohan is great. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows. We've got enough drama going on without adding our personal lives to the mix."
"Drama is what makes it interesting," Saanvi said, smirking. "But fine, I'll stop. For now." She plucked the black dress from Aahana's hands, giving it a once-over. "What do you think of this one?"
Aahana nodded, her curiosity piqued. "It's beautiful! Just like you'll look in it. But are you really going to wear that?"
"Why not? I'll just be a mafia queen dressed to kill-literally," Saanvi replied, raising an eyebrow playfully.
Aahana shook her head, laughing. "Just remember to tone it down a notch. We're not actually going to kill anyone tonight. Right?"
Saanvi smirked, her eyes glinting with mischief. "No promises. But I'll keep the killing to a minimum... at least until I find out who's been stalking me."
