It felt good to finally have his family back altogether. It's been three weeks now since Tom got discharged from the hospital and he was feeling much better. Kyra also had gone back to the orphanage and this time no one felt even a bit of pity for her. Tom had finally gotten his husband and kids back. God knows, he'd missed waking up next to Max and missed holding his three kids in his arms. But finally everything was back in place.
Tom had wanted to go on a holiday with his family since long. He thought they deserved a bit of bonding time given how the recent events had their family nearly broken. His perfect opportunity came when he was invited to a cousin's wedding. His aunt's daughter was getting married and the wedding was going to be at his parent's old house not far from the beach. In fact, Tom and Max had taken their wedding vows at the very place. It was a perfect holiday destination.
It didn't take much to convince Max. Their kids would love the beach and even they would be able to have a bit of privacy since Tom's parents would love to take care of the kids. Max was all for this plan. When they told the kids about their holiday plans, the kids had been very excited about the plan. "There is beach?" Nathan asked. "Yes, baby, we can all go to the beach" Max smiled, scooping his four year old in his arms. "Yes, and finally I can make my parents would be able to meet all of you" Tom said. "Parents?" Siva asked. "Yes, love, your grandparents." Tom said. Siva frowned looking over at Jay. "We have lots of preparations to do. Come on, I want everyone to bring only three toys so choose wisely." Tom said as he walked up the stairs. "I hope your parents would love the kids" Max said, "and your aunt. She really disliked me." "Nonsense, Max. They'll love the kids. So will my aunt" Tom said. Back in the living room, Siva tugged on Jay's arm, "grandparents" Siva mumbled. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe" Jay promised, holding both Siva and Nathan close.
Packing had been a tough job given Nathan threw a big tantrum when he was told to choose only three of his toys. The boy, finally, settled for his penguin stuff toy, legos and his blankie. Tom had packed the pacifier as a measure of precaution. Nathan hardly used it but Tom took it, just in case. Siva had chosen his animal picture story book, his rabbit stuff toy and his star wars figurines. Jay took his frog stuff toy, a beach ball, and a video game. Unlike Nathan, Siva and Jay had been easy on packing toys. After his tantrum, a few smacks on a little backside later, Nathan was sleeping soundly in Tom's arms as they continued packing. Finally, they settled on a leftover dinner as they went to bed.
The next morning, they had to leave quite early. As Nathan was still asleep, it wasn't difficult for Tom to get Nathan in a diaper. But the real struggle came with Siva. The boy had been doing a good job of keeping his pull up dry and they had gotten him out of those since a week and now that they were going on a long flight then an equally long car drive, Tom wanted Siva to be in his pull up. A few tears, a few heartfelt sniffles, and a big cuddle later, Tom had Siva in his pull up. Jay squeezed Siva's shoulder offering a silent comfort to his younger brother as they got in the car to go to the airport.
It turned out to be a good decision since after the plane ride, Nathan woke up wet. A quick diaper change later, Nathan fell back to sleep in the car. Siva was awake for the plane ride but fell asleep as soon they got in the car. Jay was the only one awake who was enjoying the view as they drove by. Tom chattered with his oldest, recounting memories of his and Max's wedding as Max drove with a grin on his face, remembering those times again.
As they reached their destination, Tom did a quick diaper check for Nathan finding his boy dry and even Siva's pull up was dry. The boy was happy that he hadn't needed his pull up at all. "Big boy, I see" Max patted his seven year olds head. Tom found his mother giving instructions to the wedding planner how she wanted the decorations to be. "Typical Parkers! They want everything perfect" Max chuckled. "Hey" Tom pouted, smacking Max on the chest. Walking over to his mother, Tom wrapped his arms around her mother's waist from behind. "I missed you mom" Tom said, sniffling slightly. Mrs. Parker turned around, "Oh Tom." She hugged her son. "Hey mom" Max greeted, leaning in for a hug too. "Max, it's good to see you. Let me guess, is that Baby Nathan?" She asked, looking at the little boy in Max's arms. "Yup" Max said. Mrs. Parker tried pulling the boy in her arms but Nathan squeaked, not letting go of his Papa. "Oh, I'm not going to steal you, baby." She chuckled. "And these are Siva and Jay" Tom introduced the two boy who stood close to each other, holding each other's hands. "Hi kiddos" She greeted getting a shy hello from Siva and firm hi from Jay.
Mrs. Parker led them to meet the others. They met Tom's father and as with Tom's mother except for a little greeting, the boys hadn't opened up at all. They met Tom's cousin who was the bride and Jay had let it slip that he thought she was really gorgeous. They had all chuckled as the bride thanked Jay, making Jay blush. Finally, they met Tom's aunt. "Oh Lord" Max gasped silently as the woman made her way over to them. "Hi Tom, it's so nice that you've been able to make it here" she said, giving Tom a hug. "Oh, you brought your boy too" She said sharply, looking over at Max. "Aunty, he's my husband" Tom sighed, "And those are my sons." Tom said, smiling. "Your sons? By surrogacy. Which one is yours?" She asked. "No, actually, we adopted." Tom said. "Tom, surrogacy was better." She added. "They are the best for me" Tom said. She pulled Tom to the side "I tell you, if you had married the girl that I had chosen for you, you could have had a better family. Maybe three sons and a daughter and a beautiful wife" She said. "Aunt, Max and those three boys are my life. I don't need any better than them" Tom said. "There's still time, Tom. I have much better proposals for you than this weird guy" Tom's aunt said. "I assure you that I'm happy aunty" Tom assured her. Shaking her head, she left them alone.
Turning back, Tom noticed two boys frowning at him while the littlest one placed a kiss on his Papa's cheek. "Papa is the best" Nathan said, making Jay and Siva nod as they clung to Max. Tom smiled softly at the sight. "At least, I have my sons against your cruel aunty" Max pouted. "Aww, really?" Tom asked, leaning in for a kiss, "And you have me too." Tom said.
Mrs. Parker was coming to call his son to join them for lunch when he saw the cute scene in front of her. Wiping a tear off her face, she smiled. No matter how many of her family members were against Tom for being gay and marrying a man but here was his son, married, father of three sons and happily settled in his life. Clearing her throat, she called out, "Tom, Max, kiddos, join us for lunch." Tom nodded, taking both Siva and Jay by their hand while Max carried Nathan inside.
Maybe this holiday was what they really need after all those events that happened in their life.

P.S – What do you think about the aunt who doesn't like Max or the kids? And does anyone feel that this holiday might bring more trouble for the George Parker family? Or is it going to be a happy time finally for them?
