So, I have a disability aid

So, I have a disability aid.

It's a boot.
The thing is supposed to help me walk with less pain.
I can walk fine without it, though my gait is a bit wonky (my muscles and bones adjusted to help me walk, which caused it to be a bit abnormal).
But the boot helps it hurt less.
I have it because the muscles of my inner foot swelled up. The boot put less pressure on them, so now its less painful to walk.
It's painful regardless, but the boot makes it slightly easier.

I appreciate the help, but it still has its flaws.
It's heavy and often feels like I have to drag it along.
It's itchy at times, and when it's hot out (I'm in the south, it's hot af rn), my lower leg and foot sweat a lot.

People often ask about in a rather intrusive manner.
I can be at the store and get asked, "What happened?" Or "What's with the boot?" And usually, "How'd you get hurt?"

I didn't get hurt.
I have flat feet.
That means the arch of my foot isn't there.
Which causes a lot of problems with my feet, and by extension, my legs.

I've had to explain that so many times to random strangers.
It's annoying that I'm expected to answer them.

Why should I be compelled to answer the intrusive questions of random, nosy people?

I've heard other people with disability aids mention this, too.
The world clearly wasn't meant for anyone who isn't the perfect "healthy, straight, "correct race," good income, neurotypical" type of person.
(That itself is a whole other rant of mine, which I'll probably do in another chapter.)
