ALVARA

I love Thursdays. They felt like a warm hug, or eating soup on a cool rainy day in October. Thursdays encouraged you, a promise that you would make it to Friday.

My Thursday had been lovely, I had a slow morning walked Koda, got food a a new restaurant for lunch, had a spur of motivation to clean my room, and I was even was having a good hair day.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. I had put on music and was enjoying my everything shower. Until I saw it. A massive spider, I wasn't scared of much—but I had self diagnosed arachnophobia.

I didn't even turn the water off as I jumped out swiped my towel and ran out of my bathroom. Luckily I had the master room with my own bathroom, I shut the bathroom door and I now sat on my bed clutching my towel around myself. I was going to get out anyways having finished my shower but my closet was also in the bathroom.

I was not going in there while there was a loose spider. All of the girls were out. The only that would probably kill it would be Del but she was out on a date with Abby and planned to stay the night at her place. There was some stupid party the other girls were at I told them I would pick them up, I could not do that in a towel.

So I called the only person I could think of,

"Hello?" Milo said

"Hi" I breathed out

"Alvara?" He asked, he sounded surprised.

"Yeah. I'm sorry to bug you..." I said my more rational side taking place.

"Your not, I was just reading. What's up?" He asked his voice laced with concern.

"There's a spider in my bathroom... it's huge! All of the girls are gone I'm supposed to pick them up but I can't because of the spider." I was practically talking in circles, I hated asking other people to do things that would put them out.

"I'll be there in five minutes." Relief flooded me at his words.

"Thank you!" I said waiting for his response.

"Anytime pretty girl." I think I just short circuited, he hung up and I sat there butterflies filling me.

Wait— his house is at least ten minutes from mine, how would he get here in five? Plus the roads were extremely busy around this time.

Sure enough there was a knock on the door in five minutes later. I opened the door and his cheeks were red, it then dawned on me. He just ran to my house to kill a spider.

"Hey—" he froze for a moment, I had almost forgotten I was only in a towel.

I stepped aside to let him in, "sorry about the lack of clothes, my closet is in the bathroom."

"Don't be." He said I watched as he tried to hide a smirk.

I led him upstairs, "it's in there." I said pointing to my bathroom door. Just as he was about to open the door, "Wait! Don't kill it! Just capture it and we can put it outside." I said biting the inside of my cheek.

"Okay I won't." He said very obviously trying to hold in a laugh. He opened the door, "Where did you see it?" He asked looking around. "In the shower!" I said from my bed. He pushed the shower curtain aside and looked around.
"I got it!" He called from the bathroom, his hand cupped together holding the spider.

"I'm going to go put it outside, okay?" He said leaving the bathroom.

"Okay." I then walked into the bathroom and shut the door to change into pajamas. I wore a matching set with little brown teddy bears on it. I ran a comb through my wet hair.

When I opened the bathroom door, Milo was there sitting on the edge of my bed, he stood up as I walked out. "Thank you! I know it's dumb, I just hate spiders. But I also feel bad, we shouldn't kill bugs just because we notice them." Why did I talk so much?

"No problem." He said

"Can I give you a ride home?" I asked fidgeting with the hem of my pajama top.

"If you don't mind, I would appreciate it." He said. I grabbed my keys and we walked out to my car. He walked towards the driver seat, I was confused for a moment but he held the door open for me.

I got in and put my key in the ignition as he walked around to the other side of the car and he got in.

"I still can't believe that you picked it up with your hands." I said breaking the silence.

"I had a bearded dragon when I was a kid, they eat roaches twice the size of that spider." He said laughing.

"Are you making fun of my arachnophobia?" I asked teasing him.

"I would never." He scoffed

"I think you might..." my tone skeptical.

"It's fine I suppose you're entitled to your own opinion," I said rolling my eyes, I pulled the car into his driveway.

"I would never make fun of someone so perfect." The car was now parked I met his eyes.

"I am hardly perfect, considering I'm scared of spiders." I said continuing our banter.

"I thought I was entitled to my own opinion?" He returned my words back to me, unbuckling his seatbelt his hand resting on the handle.

"Wait here I need to give you something." He said leaving the car before I could respond.

I saw the front door open so I rolled down my window. He came up to my window holding a white jersey with green accents. "Here," he handed me the jersey "I'll see you tomorrow, the game starts at seven, but meet me outside
the locker room at six fifty. Okay?" His blue eyes meeting my green ones, "Okay." He smiled at my response, I rolled up the window and set his jersey on the passenger seat.
