"A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous."

ALVARA

"He did it!" Kiara yelled, "We won!" Serena cheered, Del hugged me as we cheered. I owed my winner a kiss, he knew it too.

He looked over to me holding his mouth guard between his cheeks, his eyes locked on mine. His teammates surrounded him playfully shoving him in congrats, but his eyes stayed one mine. I gave my keys to Del so she could take the girls home. He bolted off the ice and I left the bleachers in a rush.

He made b- line for me his gear still on, he threw off his gloves and helmet.

He closed the distance between us, the air between us thick with anticipation, and he pinned me up against the wall, his hands holding on to the back of my thighs.

"You owe me," he murmured, his voice low and rough, "I—" I didn't even get a chance to respond before his lips were on mine, capturing that promise with an intensity that left me breathless. His touch was both firm and gentle, a mix of control and vulnerability, it was as if we'd been waiting a lifetime for this moment.

I melted into him, my hands reaching up to clutch his jersey as the world around us disappeared. Our lips broke away from each other, I was still pinned as we caught our breath. We just stared into each other's eyes, his cheeks flushed matching mine.

He slowly lowered me to ground. "I'm going to go change, don't leave. Okay?" He said gathering the gear he had previously discarded. "Okay." I breathed out.

"What's a girl like you doing all alone?" The creepy comment came from no other than the captain of the Spartans.

"I'm waiting for someone, the exit is that way." I said pointing to the door. "Don't worry I know where the exit is, I hoped to take hot chick like you with me." A smirk evident on his face, he leaned over me.

"Take the hint, I'm not interested." I said now extremely annoyed. "Well I am." I tried to leave and he grabbed my arm pulled himself closer to me. "You won't be in about two seconds." I said before my knee made contact with his groin. He released me and fell to the ground. "You fucking bitch!" Milo came out from the locker room, he was wearing a navy blue Henley and a pair of dark washed jeans.
Surprise evident on his face, he stalked over to the creepy man with I look I'd never seen.

Milo pulled him up from the ground by the collar of his shirt, I took a few steps back. He then whispered something into his ear, it was inaudible from where I stood in the already loud area. He released him and walked over to me, the other guy stumbling away.

"Are you hungry?" He asked brushing off what just happened, "Very." I said smiling at him. "Let's fix that." He led me out to his truck and opened the passenger door for me.

"McDonalds?" He asked starting the truck. "How did you know?" He smiled resting his arm on the center console. "Lucky guess."

"So. I talked with Kiara today..." I trailed. "Oh yeah, what about ?" He asked intrigued. "Her and Sawyer, she told me you talked some sense into Kade and Sawyer is taking it as a sign to move forward." I explained, "Isn't that a good thing?" he asked raising an eyebrow. "Yes, but no. She still has school and he wants to be in a real committed relationship with her. And since he's leaving she doesn't want to start something with him and have him think it's going to last." I continued. "I see, so is she just going to tell him it's not going to work?" He asked, "I don't know honestly, I guess I was curious if Sawyer had mentioned anything. Sometimes Kiara can read into things too much." I said hoping he knew something to help clarify the situation. " He hasn't said anything, what did you tell her?" He asked, "I told her she needs to talk with him about how she feels, and enjoy the moments they have together and she could always figure it out later." I said recalling our conversation from earlier.  He hummed in response.

"How do you feel about being in a committed relationship?" He asked pulling into McDonalds, and parking. "I mean I've been with a few people but nothing serious, I've been so focused on school. I don't know, now that this year has settled down and I'm not taking as many classes, I think it would be nice to have some stability." I said honestly, "What about you?" I asked now curious.

"I agree, I focused on balancing hockey and classes. And now I only have two classes this semester and a lot more time to devote to a relationship, but I mean... like Sawyer I'm signed to play for the black hawks in Chicago." He explained turning off his truck. I sat with his words for a minute, I reached to open my door out of instinct. He closed it before reopening it and holding out his hand for me to take.

"When you're with me you never need to open a door, my mom wouldn't forgive me if I let a girl open her own door." He said smiling as we walked in to McDonalds. "Her and my dad were both born and raised in Mississippi, they are born with manners down south." He joked, "We're you born there?" I questioned as we got in line. "Yeah, we moved when I was five. My parents had me at eighteen and moved to escape all of...the judgement. It was a small town, everyone knew everyone. My dad found a job up here so they moved." He shared, it was our turn to order now.

He ordered a Big Mac meal, and I got a chicken nugget meal. We got drinks and sat to wait for our food, " Are you from here?" He asked adjusting his insulin, my heart stopped for a minute as I decided how much I was ready to tell him, " No, Texas actually." I was then saved by an employee bringing us food, "Let's play twenty questions," I suggested. "What's your favorite color?" I asked eating a fry, "Green. You?" He responded, "blue." I said.

It was his turn now, "Who's your favorite character from Gilmore girls? And why?" He asked reminding me of the other day, "Well it depends, I liked Rory in the first two seasons, I also like Luke he's my favorite love interest. And I also like Lorelei because she feels somewhat relatable. But overall Emily.  I feel like in the majority of situations she is right, and if she worded things in a nicer way than other people would think that too. You?" I asked.

"So far, probably Lorelei. I respect her." He said as I thought of a question.

We continued bouncing questions off of each other, the more I knew him the more I liked him. After that he dropped me off at home, I was interrogated by the girls and reluctantly told them most of what happened.
