Chapter 13: Departure and New Beginnings

Three years had passed since Abisai, Basil, and Lily vanished into the heart of the Mystic Forest. Now fifteen, Abisai stood at the edge of the glowing glade, taller, leaner, and carrying the quiet weight of his training. His once-boyish eyes now burned with determination.

Basil, his mentor and brother, faced him, arms crossed. “Your training is far from complete,” Basil said, his tone stern but proud. “But your progress… it’s remarkable.”

Abisai wiped the sweat from his brow and smirked. “I learned from the best.”

From a distance, Lily watched the exchange, her chest swelling with pride. She had seen every grueling day of Abisai’s training: the sweat soaking the soil, the late nights under the stars, the moments where he nearly broke but refused to give in. She herself had grown, immersed in Lysandra’s ancient teachings, learning the ways of the elves and the secrets of the forest.

As the golden sun began to sink below the treetops, Lysandra gathered them beneath the ancient Heartstone. The elf matriarch’s silver hair caught the fading light, her eyes shimmering like distant stars.

“My dear friends,” Lysandra’s voice flowed like a calm breeze through the trees, “the time has come to return to your world. The Mystic Forest has given you its wisdom. Now, you must carry that light into the darkness gathering beyond.”

She turned her gaze on Abisai. “You have shown great potential, Abisai. But power without compassion is destruction. Balance strength with wisdom.”

Her attention shifted to Basil. “And you, Basil. You have guided your brother well. But remember, a teacher must also learn. The student may one day surpass you.”

Lily stepped forward, emotion glistening in her eyes. “Lysandra… your stories, your teachings… they’ve changed me. I’ll never forget you.”

Lysandra smiled and gently cupped Lily’s face. “You have a heart full of love and curiosity. Protect it. The world will try to harden you—don’t let it.”

The elder elf raised her hands. Crystalline shards of emerald light floated between her fingers before settling into the palms of Abisai, Basil, and Lily. “These crystals hold the essence of the Mystic Forest. When all seems lost, call upon its power. It will answer.”

The wind stirred as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the forest in a warm orange glow. Galadriel and the elves gathered to bid them farewell. The air hummed with both sorrow and anticipation.

Abisai closed his fist around the crystal. “We won’t fail you.”

With hearts heavy and spirits blazing, the three stepped beyond the ancient trees. The Mystic Forest faded behind them, and the gleaming skyline of Starfall City rose ahead like a promise—and a warning.

The futuristic city’s lights shimmered against the twilight, but something was wrong. As Abisai, Basil, and Lily approached the outskirts, a massive holo-screen flickered to life in the city square. Catherine Cruzanagi—Lily’s mother—was shackled between two Atlantean Guards, standing trial before a council of cold faces.

Lily’s breath caught. “Mother…? What did I miss?” Her voice trembled.

Abisai’s fists clenched. Anger rippled through him, and with it, an uncontrolled burst of cosmic energy flared around his body, warping the air.

“Abisai!” Basil grabbed his shoulder, his own aura flaring to suppress the outburst. “Calm yourself. Anger won’t save her. We need a plan.”

Abisai exhaled sharply, forcing the energy down. “Then we make one. Fast.”
