Chapter 3 - Mel
So, there we were. First day of secondary school.
Standing outside of the gates, the boys and I decided to sit at a bench in front of the building before school started and wait for the rest of them.
We did so and Matt and Sam sat on the table part of it, crossed legged, while Nick and I sat on the seating on either side. We watched people pile in and pretty soon, a small crowd gathered at our bench. Obviously it was the new year seven's who went to our school. There were some girls, but boys definitely dominated the place. Where we were sitting that is.
Then, they saw people they already met and walked over to them. In the end, Nick, Sam, Matt and I were left with Jamie, Harry, Spencer and Mike. The boys launched into a discussion about Nat again, and when they decided that yes, she was worth asking out, they also made their minds up to make all of them ask her out at one point. After, they changed the subject.
"Seriously though. Where do you think she went to school?" Matt asked looking at all of us. The four other boys were standing in front of the bench, each standing in a different way.
"Dunno. Maybe she went to a school in London." Mike said as he crossed his arms and leaned against the table from his hip. I realised that a lot of girls were looking in our direction, and some were throwing envying looks at me. I didn't care. I got used to it. My best friends are boys after all. You pick up this stuff...
The other boys just shook their heads and groaned tiredly. Jamie even playfully whacked Mike around his head.
"No, you idiot. She moved here a year ago. She's not exactly going to move back if her boyfriend was here last week, is she? Seriously. What did you do over the summer? Kill your braincells much?" he said as Mike rubbed his own head.
"I guess we'll find out some time..." I said.
"Yeah. Like right now." came a voice from behind us. The four of us, Matt, Sam, Nick and I turned to see Nat standing there with her blazer's sleeves rolled up, her hair in a messy high ponytail, trousers, black shoes and her glasses on top of her head. Her arms were crossed in front of her and her bag was only on one shoulder. She pulled one of her eyebrows up and her signature smile was on her face, as usual. "Nice to see you too boys. Mel." She said.
