Chapter 19 - Mel

I woke up extra early to be at the move in time. As I slammed down my alarm clock to finally shut it up, I threw off my covers and went to my wardrobe. I picked out my short dungarees and white T-Shirt.

I put them on and put my hair up in a high bun. When it was secured in place, I tied my wire headband in a bow to keep any other loose strands of hair out of my eyes. I gave myself cat-eyes, my signature look, and went downstairs as I pocketed my phone.

I grabbed an apple and after saying bye to my mum and putting on my trainers, I made my way to Matt's house. I walked instead of taking the bus, and then I saw Sam at the corner.

"Sam!" I shouted as I jogged to catch up to him.

"Hey, you're looking happy." he smiled. He was wearing loose and faded jeans with a shirt on top. The sleeves were torn off
and it had a red and green chequered pattern. He flashed me his best smile as he looked me over and I nodded.

"Well, the sun is shining, it's warm, and it's a week off. Plus, I'm hanging out with my best buds. Why wouldn't I be?" I asked as I bit into my apple. He just shrugged and put his hands into his pockets.

"Well, you never know." he winked at me. We had this small flirting going on since last year. I dumped my boyfriend and he dumped his girlfriend and we went out for a movie to celebrate being single again. I had a feeling that our friendship was going in a different way than we first thought it would.

I wouldn't say we were dating, but still. We liked each other, and helped each other out with relationships. It was fun, and we were better friends now. Better than ever.

As we reached the house, laughing, Matt and Nat appeared with a box.

"Hey guys." Nat smiled as she put the box in the back of a car that was parked in front of the house. She made it look like the box, that was marked fragile, didn't weigh anything. I envied her for that. But only slightly, I mean she is my bezzie after all.

Matt picked up on our good mood almost instantly.

"Seriously you two. Either start dating, or stop the flirting." he said as he also put the box down and went inside for the rest of the stuff.

"Ignore him. He had a rough night. The boxes are inside. Just get what you can and put it in the van." she smiled as Matt came out again, with another box. He put it in the white van that was also parked outside.

It was a bigger box than before and when they passed each other, Nat smiled at him teasingly and quickly kissed his lips. I just shook my head with a smile and went inside for another box.

Sam laughed and after throwing me another flirty smile, he went inside to get a box. I followed and as I stepped inside, I saw Rachel, Matt's sister, and Ben securing some boxes closed.

Ben kicked one of the lighter boxes to me and I stopped it with my foot before it could slide out through the front door.

I picked it up and throwing one last look
at the white staircase that led to the bedrooms on the next floor, I took the box to the van as it was quite big. When I turned to go back inside, a hand suddenly tapped my right shoulder and I instinctively turned to the opposite side.

"Hey Spencer." I smiled. He used that trick all of the time. He groaned as I asked him and the rest of the boys to follow.

After they said hi to the couple, they stayed outside as I put the boxes to the outside of the door and they put the boxes in the van or car. But by now, we only had big boxes left.

When there were only boxes outside of the house, we left the boys to it as we
went upstairs for the rest. Matt and Rachel's parents were on vacation after their daughter got married, last night.

We were all outside in the hot sun when Ben whispered something in Nat's ears as a sleek black car pulled up on the other side of the road. I saw Jade's brother, Mason, get out with a few of his friends. We never liked each other. No one in the group. They especially hated us since we accepted Nat into our group.

I didn't know what was their problem. They looked like any normal bunch of boys, just in their twenties. So I guess they were classed as men...

Ben instinctively stepped in front of Nat and Rachel, just like Matt stepped in front of Nat. What was going on here? I didn't get it. He looked at Rachel, who
just nodded and she turned to us.

"Come guys, we've done enough for now. Let's take a break. I'll make the best lemonade you've ever tasted." she said with a winning smile. I sensed something was wrong, so I let her take us, just like the boys did. We went inside as I heard Nat protest, but Matt left her to it in the end. He followed us in with a worried look towards the two siblings outside.
