Chapter 16 - Mel
The first day of Year 9 was quite eventful to be honest... For one, when we met up with Nat and Matt, they seemed to be so happy, it was almost unnatural.
"Hey guys. You seem a bit happy." I smiled, happy for them.
"No." they said at the same time, smiling. Then we burst out laughing. We waited for Sam, who looked a bit secretive. Nat picked up on it and looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
"Something you want to tell us?" she asked kindly. He looked at her and then shook his head sadly. Nat looked at Matt, whispered something in his ear and he nodded. She walked over to him and whispered something in Sam' ear. He looked sad, but nodded.
"Sure." he said. We walked to school, trying to cheer him up and we did make him laugh in the end. We sat down on the bench, satisfied and continued the laughter.
Jade walked past our bench and they shared a look with Sam. Her look was loving, but he didn't meet her eyes.
"Hey Jade. How was your summer?" Nat asked, faking kindness. She grimaced, but answered anyway.
"Fine, thanks. How was yours?" she mimicked Nat's tone. I shook my head disapprovingly.
"Oh, nothing out of the ordinary." Nat smiled a real smile this time as Matt snickered.
"What about you lot?" Jade turned to us.
"Normal." we replied in unison. Sam stole a quick look at Nat, who smiled encouragingly.
"Nothing that hasn't been said. And Jade." Sam sat up as a smile started to spread over Nat's face. Jade turned to him with an unnaturally kind smile. For her, anyway. "You're dumped." he said simply. The whole field went quiet as Jade looked confused and the girls behind her looked taken aback.
"What?" she asked, with the same confused expression. Sam stood up and looked straight into her eyes.
"I'll say it so you understand." he smiled. "You are dumped, innit." he said mockingly. She looked shocked for a second, and then narrowed her eyes at him.
"Do you think you can get away with this?" she hissed loud enough for us to hear. Nat stood up and stood next to our friend. After a few seconds, we all joined.
"I think so." Nat smiled maliciousy, obviously loving it. "And I also think that..." she pretended to think. "Oh, revenge is most definitely sweet." she nodded with a happy smile.
"Don't think this is over." Jade looked at her.
"We had this conversation already. This was over, before it even got to step 2." she smiled. Jade narrowed her eyes at Nat, like the last time, and stalked off.
When her and the girls entered the building, the whole field erupted in cheers and also applause. Nat stood on the table and took a bow as we laughed.
The little match between the two girls hasn't gotten out of hand yet, but it could. Any day now.
When she got off of the table, she sat with us as everyone went back to their own conversations as if nothing happened.
"Does anyone have a plan coming up?" Nick asked us.
"I was thinking about going to see the new movie coming out at the week end." Nat said as Matt tried to hide a smile.
"Does anyone want to join?" she asked. I shrugged, like everyone. "Oh, come on! It'll be epic! It's only a movie. You guys can bring dates if you want." she teased. Sam shrugged and nodded, I smiled and nodded as the other boys did the same as Sam.
We laughed as the bell rang and we went inside.
Once we were through Registration, we met each other at English. We had to gather outside because someone got mad again. But this time, it wasn't Nick...
