*** Hey guys/gals, I am so sorry for the long wait. Well for those of you reading this. And if you're taking time to read my story, wow... it just means alot to me, it really does. My fourth of July was awesome, we went cliff diving and climbed waterfalls, you know the illegal stuff. But life's greatest joys are usually illegal. Annyyywaaayys. I hope you guys like this chapter, it took me a while to try to even my thoughts out so it's shorter but my speed should pick up now I have a better idea where this is going. Enjoy! ***

Pietro stumbled forward, clutching his side. His face was pale and beaded with sweat and his shirt was torn at his side. A red ooze soaked the edges of the gash and he caught his breath before keeling over.

I instinctively reached out to catch him but he was a lot heavier than he looked and I tumbled down next to him.

"Pietro?" I breathed, urgently searching his body for any other signs of injury. I looked around for a split moment and noticed we were now alone in the quiet hall, the lights flickering slightly, making the setting eerie.

I brought my focus back to the boy in front of me. He looked awful. Aside from his torn clothes and gash on his side, he looked absolutely worn. His skin was ashen and his lower lip was split. Sweat sequenced his hairline and his fingernails were encrusted with dirt.

I was alarmed when Pietro grasped my hand. I looked into his eyes and saw something that took me off guard. Fright?

"Why couldn't you just stay put..." He groaned. The look in his eyes vanishing.

I frowned. "There was a man with a weapon in my room. What did you want me to do?"

He shook his head and began to lift himself up, using my arm for support. "I had things under control."

I frowned and yanked back my arm, causing him to fall on his butt. "I was supposed to just lay in waiting for some knight to come rescue me?" I snorted. "Or... you."

He looked up at me irritably. "You weren't supposed to wake up."

"What?" I asked bewildered. "Wait, where am I? Where is Steve? Why am I here?"

The questions just now started coming back to me and my confusion settled back on my mind like a fresh coat of snow.

"I liked you better when you were under." He rolled his eyes and squabbled awkwardly to his feet.

I took in his words carefully then realized his drastic change of appearances. All his injuries and weariness didn't happen overnight.

"How long was I...?" I started.

Pietro looked at me skeptically before answering slowly. "Sixteen days."

I opened my mouth in disbelief. Sixteen days? I guess that explained a lot about not remembering some things like how I got to this hotel or why Pietro looked so beat up so fast.

I wanted to ask more about everything else that didn't make sense, like the man in my room who tried to kill me or why I went out in the first place, but Pietro groaned in pain and doubled over. I knelt beside him and examined the gash on his side.

"What did you get yourself into..." I murmured and tore his shirt slightly to get a better look at his wound. Then I remembered how I had healed Clint on the chopper all that time ago.

"Hold still." I commanded and held my hands over his wound. Nothing happened.

Pietro's face twisted with a strange anxiety and he began to move my hands away. "What are you-"

Suddenly my hands began to glow and the flesh around the gash began to as well. I smiled for a minute as I felt the energy leave my hands but it disappeared when Pietro let out a shrill cry.

I pulled my hands away but Pietro continued to scream. He rolled over so his face was towards the floor and his cries were more muffled.

"What's happening?" I asked confused. "Last time..."

Pietro calmed down and lay limply for a moment before slowly gathering to his feet.

"Are you crazy? Don't you know what that could do?" He said, gritting his teeth. I stood and backed away from him uncertainly. I knew I could take him in this state if he decided to attack me but I doubt he would.

"I don't understand. It was supposed to make you heal faster..." I said quietly avoiding his eye contact.

"Yeah? Well it didn't." He stepped towards me. "Don't ever try that again."

He turned away from me and began walking down the hall when I noticed something different. The gash on his side had disappeared. A small smile began to creep across my face, though I had tried to suppress it.

"Pietro?" I said nonchalantly.

He turned towards me annoyed. "What?"

I moved my gaze to his nonexistent injury. He followed my eyes and for a moment nothing. Then his eyes widened and he backed away from me.

I let my smile show and I leaned against the wall. "You were saying?"

He looked up at me, but this time not in gratitude but something that looked more like fear.

"You aren't supposed to be able to do that..." He lumbered off. He stepped towards me, his blue eyes on mine as if searching for something.

"I have always been able to do that... I think." I felt a heat creep into my cheeks and I looked down. "But then again, I don't really know who I am, or what."

Pietro looked at me with something new in his eyes. Sympathy? Yeah, I don't think he would ever be the pity type but either way, no matter who it is, I hate sympathy. He opened his mouth slightly then shut it like he wanted to say something.

"No, I know, you just... aren't supposed to be able to do that to me." Pietro said.

I rolled my eyes. "That makes no sense."

Pietro looked at me a moment then shook his head. He forced out a breathy laugh. "Yeah I know. It does sound pretty... unethical."

I narrowed my eyes in confusion, but Pietro just walked past me towards the exit.

I turned in irritation. "Where are you going? I still don't know what's going on!" I yelled after him because he was now all the way at the other end of the corridor. Blasted super speed.

He turned back to me briefly, and I could see the sparkle in his eyes from here, the moon in his silver hair. "When do you ever?"

I suppressed a smile and shook my head. I picked up my feet and ran after him.
