"Okay come on let's go to mommy's room," Taylor told Harper making her way to her room with her. Harper followed behind with her head down. She didn't want to admit it but everything hurt after her fall. She didn't feel like eating at all; she just felt off.
Taylor made her way into her room and sat down on her bed pulling Harper close to her. "Do you wanna try your Snuggie milk now? It's just us," Taylor whispered in her soft voice.
Harper slowly nodded. She felt really sick but she felt bad that Taylor couldn't help. Taylor smiled a little and moved her shirt away, letting Harper sort herself out.
Harper cuddled closer and accepted her milk however after a few minutes she could feel herself getting pale. She quickly backed away and shook her head, whining slightly.
"That's okay we don't have to. Do you just want snuggies?" Taylor asked Harper knowing Harper needed to eat but she didn't want to push her. Harper nodded and whined again pushing Taylor's shirt completely away and cuddling close, closing her eyes and already feeling miles better just from the small amount of skin contact.
Taylor smiled, holding Harper close to her and enjoying the special bonding moment with her.
Eventually Harper pointed at her crib. Taylor nodded gently, placing her down in her crib and tucking her in with her weighted blanket and her other comfort items.
Once that was done she headed downstairs to Mal and Evie. "Bed time you two, it's getting a bit late." She told them both, looking at her phone to see the time.
Mal's eyes widened and she turned more into Evie shaking her head. "No wanna," Mal cried out, clinging tightly to Evie with her little arms. Taylor headed over and sat by mal, gently rubbing her back.
Evie watched, trying her best to let go.
"Can I try?" Taylor asked Evie, opening her arms to take Mal. "I guess so," Evie told Taylor hesitantly, moving so that Taylor could pick up Mal. Taylor gently picked up Mal and stood up, gently swaying side to side and walking back and forth.
"Shh you're okay. You'll be okay. No one can get to you babe." Taylor told her. Mal tried to fight against it, still not feeling that comfortable around a new person, but she couldn't help but relax against her. The rocking and swaying soothing her.
"There you go. You're okay." Taylor whispered. Mal layed her head down, her small body cuddling up against her. "Okay I can take her now," Evie replied, finding it hard for her to trust someone else with her baby sister.
Evie obviously knew that Taylor was trustworthy but she still had a hard time with letting go. Mal had been her responsibility since she was about 10 years old. It had always been the two of them alone pretty much.
"You sure, the whole point in Us bringing you in is that you don't have to do this anymore. Let me take care of you both and it will all be so much easier for you." Taylor told Evie.
Evie slowly nodded, trying her best to accept those words. "Are you sure?" Evie asked. She honestly had never been in a situation where she wasn't responsible for anything. Even before Mal was born Evie had basically been taking care of herself for as long as she could remember.
Their mom didn't care about them at all. She only cared about using Evie to her advantage and Mal had been a drunken mistake. If Evie hadn't stepped in to take care of her Mal probably wouldn't have even lasted a month.
"Yes of course. You see Harper, she's not herself at the minute but I changed that girl from a terrified little toddler to an absolute sassy queen. But I managed that because she trusted me and she let me help. I need you to trust me and let me help Evie." Taylor explained.
