Chapter 20: Brothers in Arms

This is the outro for the last chapter which I should have add the last chapter to this chapter, but decide to see the aftermath of the battle as replacement. Enjoy.

Eagle Union Medical Facility, New Jersey
Enterprise POV

I got a call from High Command that my little brother Gettysburg have return from his fight against Iron Blood and suffer heavy damage by KMS Nijmegen so I decide to see him at the medical facility at New Jersey since it's the nearest to one of the ports in the Atlantic Ocean. I got permission from Pacific Azur Lane Commander to visit him since Yorktown and Hornet are out at sea and I was the only one at the base. I decide to use my vacation time to visit him and see how he is doing. I arrive at the medical facility where one of the nurse notice me and greet me.

Nurse: "Greetings Enterprise; it is an honor to have you here."

Everyone knows about me through my past life as the most famous carrier in the Eagle Union who has most battlestars than the other kansens, but right now I don't have time to talk about that.

Enterprise: "Is my brother here?"

Nurse: "Yes; one of the Royal Navy ships including Cleveland brought him here for treatment, but the damage is critical."

I'm start to worry about this and order her to escort me to him.

Enterprise: "Let me see him."

Nurse agree with my order and escort me to his room which is Room 203. We both enter the room where I can see him in the bed with bandages over his body from burn marks including his face. Looks like Nijmegen did a number on him and I wish I was there to assist him, but the Sakura Empire won't let me. The nurse left the room so it was only me in the room to watch over him. He notice me with a sad look on his face.

Gettysburg(pain): "Big... Sis?"

Enterprise: "I'm here Gettysburg. Yorktown and Hornet can't come because they're out at sea right now. I was the only one was able to come because it was the time for me to resupply."

He try his best to smile at me, but the burn is making it impossible so he continue to have a neutral smile while I hold his hand that is cover in bandage as well. His entire clothes was almost burn and his ship was heavily damage by Nijmegen's attack. I look at the report from the damage and it's almost beyond repair, but it was a miracle that the ship remain standing. High Command order the ship for repairs, but it requires a large amount of resources from the Alaskan Research Facility which is where he was born in. I start to cry after seeing him in bad condition and hug him, but the burn make it painful, but he was able to hold it in the pain because he want to embrace it.

Gettysburg(pain): "I'm sorry Big Sis; I have failed the mission."

Enterprise(crying): "At least you survive; I don't want to lose you."

It brings bad memories of me losing Yorktown and Hornet during the our past life. I don't want to lose another family member otherwise I'm going to end up blaming myself for it. I was able to let go of him and he start to rest up to recover while I offer him something to drink, but due to the condition; he was require a tube so he doesn't hurt himself from the burns. I was able to maintain his condition until the nurse arrive to inform me that my time here is up, but I be back next time when I have a chance.

Enterprise: "I make sure that Yorktown and Hornet knows that you're okay."

Gettysburg(happy): "Thank you."

Nurse: "Time for your check up."

I walk outside of the hospital and I notice a female kansen heading to the medical facility with flowers which I notice it was USS Independence a light carrier, but why is she going to the medical facility unless one of her sisters is staying here. I decide to approach her.

Enterprise: "Independence?"

Independence(shock): "ENTERPRISE? Are you heading back?"

Enterprise: "Staying at a nearby hotel for couple of days. What brings you here?"

Independence(lie): "It's for my sister Princeton; she got ambush by Vichy Dominion during her patrols in the Atlantic. I need to hurry and give this to her."

She left in a hurry while she is sweating bullets and I have a feeling that she lie about it, but I don't know what other purpose she have of coming here unless it's important; I decide to head for the hotel.

Eagle Union Medical Facility, New Jersey
Gettysburg POV

I decide to sleep for the day, but all the sudden a nurse came in with flowers and a letter before putting them on the table.

Nurse: "It's from Independence."

I use my strength to read the letter and says that she hope that I get well and hope they go on a mission later on after I recover. I almost laugh because the writing looks like she made a couple of mistakes on the letter and discover some are from Bataan, but I was happy that I was able to get a letter from her and yes I agree that we should join a mission since we're part of the Atlantic Campaign. After that; I can feel good for the day and hope I can leave this hospital after I recover.
