Cassie's P.O.V

Michael and I walked into his house, I wouldn't let go if him, and frankly I didn't want to. I had missed him so much. I missed the way he smelled, his touch, his laugh, his smile, his lips. Everything.

I motioned for him to wait by the door while I called for his parents.

"Karen, can you come here for a minute?" I shouted. I had Michael hide behind the wall as she walked over to me.

"What is it dear?"

"I found someone outside." I grabbed Michael's shirt and pulled him into view. I watched as her face lit up with excitement. She rushed over to him and pulled him into a hug.

"Hi mum," Michael said as he stood there wrapping his arms around his mom.

"Oh, I missed you so much!" She gushed.

"I missed you too mum," he smiled as he buried his face in her neck. I smiled as I watched the two of them. After they separated, Michael walked over and wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin in the top of my head.

"I thought you weren't going to be home until the end of the week?" I asked.

"Well I told you that to surprise you," he smiled down at me and pecked me on the lips.

"Well it was a nice surprise," his mom smiled "now you two go catch up. Ill have dinner ready in an hour."

Michael smiled as he kissed his mom on the cheek and pulled me up to his room. He closed the door behind him and flopped onto his bed. I crawled onto the bed next to him and snuggled into his side.

"I missed you so damn much," he mumbled his eyes closed as he pulled me close to him.

"I missed you too," I smiled as I buried my face into his chest. He pulled me tighter against him as we laid there. No words were said, but that was okay.

"How did everything go with your Dad?" He asked suddenly.

I tensed in his arms, he sat up a little. "I didn't mean to-"

"It's okay,"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Michael,"

"Let's not talk about it right now." He rushed.

"You brought it up, besides, its okay."

He sat up further on his bed and kept one hand on my back.

"He's been in jail for a few months now, and he's going to stay there." I said.

"That's good," he sighed as he pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry that you had to go through it alone."

I smiled, "Just knowing you were worried was enough for me."

My phone started to ring. I groaned as I pulled away from Michael and grabbed it. A number I didn't know flashed on the screen. I answered.

"Hello?"

"Cassandra!" It was a voice I didn't want to hear again.

"Dad? How-"

Michael looked up, his eyes wide with concern.

"I need you to turn on the TV baby girl," his voice made me want to vomit, sending chills down my spine.

I motioned for Michael to turn on the TV and grabbed the remote.

"What channel?" I said. There was no emotion in my voice. There was silence on the other end before he responded.

"Any news channel, they should have the story covered." The smirk was evident in his voice.

"News Channel," I mouthed to Michael. He quickly changed the channel and the news came onto the screen.

I read the screen as my father stayed silent. He had escaped from prison.

"How did you do it?!" I asked.

"A magician never reveals his secrets baby girl," I cringed at the nickname.

"If you think you can g-"

"I would watch your back, and this time your little rockstar boyfriend isn't going to be able to save you."

"You leave him out of this!" I snapped.

"Why? You're the one who brought him into it," he chuckled a little, "See you soon baby girl."

The line went dead. I looked over at Michael. Tears were beginning to form at the corner of my eyes.

"Cass," he sighed.

I shook my head and stood up. I shoved my phone into my pocket.

"I need some air," I said quietly.

"I'm not letting you go by yourself," Michael said, "he could be out there."

I put my head in my hands, the tears flowing continuously. I leaned against Michael's door and slid down it. Michael got off his bed and pulled me onto his lap.

"I can't let him do this to me!" I sobbed, "I can't live my life in fear anymore!"

"Shhh," he rubbed my back as I cried into his chest.

He held me as I sat on his lap. I didn't say anything and neither did he, but he held me close as he began humming a song in my ear. I recognized it as Wake Me Up When September Ends by GreenDay. I wrapped my arms around his torso and listened to him start to sing the rest if the song to me.

"Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends."

Once he had finished I sat up on his lap. "Thank you," I whispered.

"I care about you too much, I'm not going to let him hurt you ever again. Do you hear me? He's not going to hurt you." he kissed the top of my head.

"He's never going to hurt you," he mumbled, "ever,"

"Michael he's gon-"

"Cassie, he's not coming near you."

"I gotta go," I whispered. "He's going to come after you I can't let you get hurt.

"Cas-"

I shook my head as I pulled myself from his grasp and stood up. I grabbed my phone and walked out of his room.

"Cassie!" He shouted behind me.

"Michael, no. No matter how hard we try this relationship is a dysfunctional mess. I can handle it on my own." I said as I walked down the staircase and to the door. I turned and looked at him on top of the steps, his eyes were red and he had tears escaping his eyes.

"I'm sorry," I whispered as I walked out the door not looking back.
