After breakfast, I had to go. I had rehearsal with the lads. I didn't want to leave her, she was all alone. Her parents were on a trip for work.
"Why don't you come with me?" I asked.
"To your band rehearsal?"
I nodded my head waiting for her response. I wanted her to meet the lads anyway.
"Alright, let me get ready."
I smiled at her. "I gotta get ready too, are you alright if I go home and shower quickly?"
She nodded her head taking the plates from the table and put them on the sink. She pulled her hair out of the messy bun she had from last night.
Her hair fell past her shoulders in long waves. She shook her hair out before putting the elastic on her wrist.
"Alright, so pick me up in like an hour?" She asked.
"Sure thing babe," I kissed her before leaving the house.
I left her house and went home. My mom was waiting for me in the living room.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I had a friend who really needed me last night and I fell asleep at her house."
"Her?" She questioned.
"Yeah, we're kinda going out." I said stuffing my hands in my pockets.
"Okay, but it would have been nice to at least get a text." she said crossing her arms.
"Sorry mum," I said looking at my feet.
"It's alright, now come here." she said opening her arms.
I walked over and hugged her quickly. I thanked her then went upstairs to shower and change.
Once I was done I went downstairs said goodbye to my mother and headed out the door. I was a little early and Cassie left the door unlocked so I went in.
She was still in the shower, there was soft singing coming from the bathroom. I walked up the stairs and put my ear to the door.
Cassie was singing softly to herself. "Are you, Are you, coming to the tree? Where they strung up a man they say murdered three. Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met a mid night in the hanging tree."
I stayed there listening. I recognized it was that song from the Hunger Games movie. I sat down near the door and listened.
I smiled, she didn't realize what a beautiful voice she had. It was beautiful. It was like a mix of Lana Del Ray and Adele. It was absolutely perfect.
After a while, the water turned off. I stood up and knocked on the door. "Cassie? You almost done babe?"
"Yeah just let me get dressed," she said through the door.
"I'll be downstairs okay?"
"Alright,"
This was going to be a good day. I really hope from the night that we had, things will be better for her.
She came down ten minutes later she came down the stairs. Her hair was in a high ponytail, she was wearing a red flannel with black skinny jeans and black combat boots.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yup," she said popping the p.
"Alright let's go,"
The car ride was silent until I spoke up. "Where are your parents?"
"They uhh,"
"Babe, you can tell me."
"I really don't want to talk about it,"
"That's what you said last time and then look what happened." I said.
She sighed, rubbing her face with her hands. "They just kinda come and go, they don't really come home a lot."
"So you're by yourself?"
"Pretty much,"
I grabbed her hand. "I will be here for you, I promise."
She looked over and smiled. "Thank you Mikey."
