Nagi leaned back in his seat, staring at the latest letter he’d just gotten from Y/n. He could practically hear her excited tone just by looking at her handwriting, which somehow seemed a little more rushed and playful than before. He unfolded the letter, smirking at her latest doodles — a messy, slightly lopsided sketch of a cat with a tiny party hat.

Hey Nagi,

You know, you should definitely try people-watching. I did it again last week, and I saw this kid lose a balloon and cry until his mom bought him three more. It was adorable but also kind of chaotic.

Oh, and you probably think I’m weird for saying this, but I like collecting random trinkets — little things, like buttons or charms. They’re mostly useless, but it’s just fun to keep them. Do you have any random hobbies like that? Come on, you’ve gotta have some hidden interests.

Also, I’ll be at the festival helping with a ring-toss booth! I’m so terrible at it, though. Bet you’d win with zero effort. Think about it — a festival, games, food stalls. Aren’t you even a bit tempted to go?

Nagi ran a hand through his hair, chuckling to himself. Collecting random trinkets? He wouldn’t have guessed. The girl was definitely… unique. And maybe a little odd. But it kind of made him want to learn more.

“Are you still writing her?” Reo leaned over with a grin. “You look way too interested, Nagi.”

“Eh,” Nagi muttered, brushing off Reo’s teasing but secretly wondering what he’d say in return.

Hey,

Yeah, I tried the people-watching thing. It’s… interesting, I guess. Kind of fun to just sit and watch people go by. Don’t know if I could do it for long, though.

I don’t really collect anything. I guess the only random thing I keep are a few old game controllers I don’t even use anymore. Never threw them out.

Ring-toss, huh? I’d probably miss on purpose to keep it interesting.

As he folded the letter, Nagi felt a weird sense of anticipation. He wouldn’t say it out loud, but maybe, just maybe, he’d swing by the festival after all.
