Days passed, and Nagi found himself checking his mailbox more often than usual. Each time he opened it, he expected to see an envelope from Y/n, maybe another little letter or even just a short note. But each time, it was empty.

By the end of the week, Reo noticed his restlessness. “No letter from your penpal?”

Nagi shrugged, trying to play it off as if he hadn’t noticed. “Maybe she’s busy or something. Doesn’t really matter.”

But the truth was, it did matter. He’d gotten used to the rhythm of their letters, looking forward to the small surprises she sent, the stories about her life, and the random little doodles she added to the corners. And now, nothing.

Reo gave him a knowing look. “You know, maybe you should send her something anyway. Show her you’re still here, even if she’s busy.”

Nagi hesitated, wondering if he was overthinking things. Still, the quiet ache in his chest pushed him to scribble a quick letter that night, something casual but just enough to let her know he was waiting.

Hi Y/n,

Haven’t heard from you in a bit. Hope everything’s good. Thought I’d just say hi. Let me know if you’re still there.

After dropping the letter into the mailbox, Nagi tried to shake off the nagging worry that maybe something was wrong. It wasn’t like they were close or anything. She was just a penpal, right?

But for the rest of the week, that empty mailbox became a little harder to ignore.
