This brings me to now. It was a fun process looking back on my final year of school and my first year as Jocelyn, my true self. I started looking back when I got an invite to my high school reunion, Ashlee did too. We decided to go and have fun, remember some old times, and see how some of the people we've lost touch with are doing.
"Ashlee, are you ready?"
"Not yet cutie," Ashlee said coming over to give me a quick kiss, "how about you?"
"Nearly, we've still got 15 minutes, so plenty of time."
"You look good, I love that dress on you."
"Thanks, but I hoped you would. You helped me pick it out."
"Oh yeah. I knew I had good taste," she said with a smile. We both giggled at that.
"You look great too beautiful, very smart and yet very much a young mum."
"Thanks, cutie. Is Thea, ok?"
"She should be. She's having a nap now. Mum should be here shortly to take care of her tonight. Finish getting ready I'll go check on her."
"OK, thanks. It's frustrating sometimes when I have to work Saturday mornings."
"I know but you do important work and help a lot of people. Besides, you spend more time with her than I do during the week."
"You still want to get back to umpiring next season?"
"Yes, I was happy to take this year off, you had to last year. I think she will be fine by then. She'll be 2 before the season starts and both our mums are happy to help, and Iris and Bel, so we should be fine."
"Don't forget Amy. She's been bugging you to let her babysit all year."
"I know. I think Jamie asked if he and Tilly could come by soon too. They'd love to catch up with us and Tilly is great with her."
"Sounds good."
The doorbell rang, and then a cry came from the baby's room.
"Can you see to Thea, I'll get mum."
"Ok, cutie." I walked to the door.
"Hi Mum," she gave me a hug, "how are you doing."
"Good, much better now that I've stopped seeing that jerk."
"I'm happy to hear that. I'm sorry I'm making your dating life harder."
"Honey, you are way more important to me than any guy. If he wants me, he has to accept and respect you. If he doesn't like it, he's not worth the time of day."
"Thanks, Mum, how's Bel."
"She's doing okay. She still can't decide what she wants to do but it's likely to be something with programming, sound, animation, or games. I just hope she decides soon."
"Mum, it's hard to know. Let her explore and she'll figure it out. Besides, she's doing some work for different people online. She's doing okay."
"Anyway, when do you need to get going?"
"About 3:30."
"Then you better get ready."
"Hi, Kasi. Cutie looks who's up."
"Hi honey, how's my little girl."
"She's a little grumpy, she was startled by the doorbell," said Ashlee handing Thea to mum.
"Hi Thea, how's my granddaughter doing." She looked at Mum, then us and then back to Mum, and she smiled at Mum.
"We better get ready," I said as we went back to our room.
