Choking a Candle in the Wind

10 2 3

A candle in the wind,

Coming so close flickering out,

A stray on the streets,

Determined on taking the wrong route.

Looking for a home,

Some sort of safe place.

Unfortunately there isn't one,

The search seems a waste.

Where is there to go,

Or is there time to wait?

Not while bobbing in the waters,

A luring form of piranha bait.

The body detects the sour acid,

But can only cough and choke.

The watchers are watching and everything they see,

They don't know what to do or how to cope.

All you think about,

Hurt, kill choke!

What nerve it takes,

To call this a joke!

The winds were blowing,

I was only a flame.

You continued to choke me,

As if it were a game!

I was already going,

So close to gone,

Then you stepped in,

There was no hope for dawn.

But someone found me,

Yes, someone came!

And I've found content,

Only in His name!

Only someone who has felt this pain,

Nails through hands and feet,

Betrayed by a friend,

Could have my sorrows beat!

There is no fear,

There is no blame!

I've been set free,

There is no more shame!

I've got one friend,

Maybe none more,

But that's all I need,

To see past the gore.

So when floods pour down,

And tornadoes blow,

He will defeat

Even my worst foe.

I know it's true,

Life is rough.

But trust in Him,

He is always enough.

I'll have my nights,

Bad things happen still.

But He is my hope,

My loneliness He will fill.
