Bad Luck Comes in Threes

When I was young,

I was told

That bad luck comes in threes.

But I only imagined silly things

Like being stung by bees.

I can't imagine how you felt

When your wife left you all alone.

All I would be able to do

Is lie in bed and moan.

The terrible emotion you would have felt,

Replaced by another man.

Loving her with all your heart,

But she took your love and ran.

You were out one day,

And when you returned to your farm,

Seeing your house burned to the ground

Must have brought great alarm.

This was the second great blow

You somehow managed to take.

You probably thought it a nightmare,

And you were soon to awake.

But you did not awake,

You realized this was true.

It seems that everything

Had been unfairly stolen from you.

As I walk around the land.

It saddens me to see this place.

When you were clearing trees,

Why were you in such a race?

I don't know why

They say bad luck comes in threes.

The saying became stunningly true

When you were crushed by one of those trees.

It is so unfortunate

You have gone this way.

Back luck comes in threes;

It is true what they say.
