Chapter 72: The Efran Army's Plan

In the dimly lit war room of Efran, tension crackled in the air as General Woundwort addressed his gathered officers. The flickering light cast long shadows across their serious faces, a reflection of the weighty plans being hatched within these walls.

"We need a new strategy," Woundwort announced, pacing in front of the table cluttered with maps and plans. "The Sandleford rabbits believe they're safe. They think they can rally their forces and defend against us. We will prove them wrong."

Captain Orchis leaned forward, his ears perked with interest. "What do you propose, General?"

Woundwort's eyes gleamed with cunning. "We will infiltrate their ranks. We will use deception to turn their own against them. We'll impersonate one of their trusted allies—someone they would never suspect."

A murmur of intrigue swept through the officers. Woundwort pointed a paw at a map, indicating a nearby territory. "I propose we take the form of one of their most beloved rabbits—Bigwig. His reputation as a protector will allow us to slip past their defenses undetected."

"But Bigwig is a formidable opponent!" a soldier protested. "If they discover the ruse—"

"Precisely!" Woundwort interrupted sharply. "That's why it will work. We will catch them off guard. They'll be more focused on protecting him than on us. Once we gain their trust, we can sabotage their plans from within."

The officers exchanged glances, the plan sparking a mix of excitement and concern. "And who will play the part of Bigwig?" asked Blackavar, his voice laced with skepticism.

Woundwort turned his steely gaze on the soldier, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "We'll find a suitable replacement—a rabbit who can mimic his behavior. We'll train them to act just like him, to use his words and mannerisms. By the time they realize what's happening, it will be too late."

"Sounds risky," one officer murmured. "If we fail—"

"Failure is not an option!" Woundwort roared, silencing the room. "We cannot afford mistakes. We will be relentless. Prepare the troops; I want them ready for deployment at dawn. This will be our chance to crush the Sandleford rabbits once and for all."

As the officers nodded, the weight of Woundwort's command settled over them. They understood the risks, yet the promise of victory fueled their resolve. The air buzzed with a dangerous excitement as they began to discuss the details of their plan, each officer eager to play a role in the deception that would change the tide of their conflict.

Outside, the wind howled, echoing the foreboding tension inside. Woundwort's plan was set into motion, and the darkness of his intentions loomed heavy over the warren.
