Chapter 4: The Vision
As the group settled down for the evening, Fiver sat apart from the others, gazing into the dusky London skyline. A strange feeling tugged at his mind, an unease that seemed to thicken the air. Hazel noticed his brother's silence and walked over, sensing that something was weighing on him.
"Fiver, are you all right?" Hazel asked, his tone gentle but concerned.
Fiver nodded, but his expression was distant, as if looking beyond the physical world. "I don't know, Hazel. There's something coming... something we're not ready for."
Hazel watched as Fiver's eyes closed, and he drifted into what appeared to be a trance. Moments later, he began to tremble, his breathing shallow and quick. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, filled with terror.
"Fiver!" Hazel reached out, steadying him as he caught his breath. "What did you see?"
Fiver's voice shook as he spoke. "It was as if I were high above, looking down on a vast field, empty and quiet. But then shadows spread across it, thick and dark, and I could hear... noises. Machines. And voices—human voices."
The other rabbits gathered closer, listening intently.
Fiver continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "There was destruction everywhere. Trees, grass, burrows—everything was flattened, torn apart. And then, I saw something else, something terrible. A high, lonely hill, far from here... but it wasn't peaceful. It was... covered in smoke, with no sign of life left on it."
The group was silent, the weight of his vision settling over them. Finally, Blackberry spoke up, trying to find hope in the darkness. "Perhaps it's just a warning, Fiver, not a certainty. Maybe we still have time to change things."
Fiver met her gaze, the fear in his eyes softened by a glimmer of hope. "Maybe," he said quietly. "But we can't ignore this. We need to find a place, a new home far from human reach... and soon."
Hazel gave his brother a reassuring nod. "We'll listen to your vision, Fiver. We'll find the place you saw—the high, lonely hill. We'll make it our home."
As the night fell around them, Fiver's vision lingered, filling their hearts with both fear and determination.
