Uxie was confused.

"Calm down," tried Azelf. "It's not that bad, okay? Everything turned out fine."

"You," said Uxie scathingly. "Have low standards. What if the Jolteon didn't conveniently land in tall grass? He got off easy with just a broken leg, and you know it."

"The math is not mathing," agreed Mesprit.

Uxie scowled. "I just don't understand. I chose the Lycanroc specifically to avoid triggering your Ion's, uh, touchy side. Smart, good personality, not impulsive–I thought of it all. So why-"

"I mean, you're not really the best at figuring out what a Pokémon will feel. Leave that lame shit to Mesprit," suggested Azelf.

"Shut your trap, you raspberry colored fruit bat," complained Mesprit.

"Should have left the Jolteon on its own," said Uxie reproachfully.

"I said it was fine!" protested Azelf. "Besides, I couldn't figure out why they were acting so weird either. Mesprit?"

"Wouldn't you like to know," snickered Mesprit.

"...what."

"I'll make it up to you two," declared Uxie. "With this one–the Glaceon."

"For Kyurem?" asked Azelf skeptically. "She seemed kind of dumb to me."

"I don't know," said Mesprit thoughtfully. "I can't seem to pin her personality down..."

"Are we sure we can trust your plans? You do remember that one time you got your head in a yogurt cup, ri-"

"I WILL EAT YOUR ORGANS," threatened Uxie.

"Yeah, yeah," said Azelf. "How many Pokécoins will you bet?"

"Eighty," said Mesprit.

"One hundred," challenged Uxie.

"You must be pretty confident," Azelf noted.

"Nah, it's the inflation."

"Guys," interrupted Mesprit. "She's arrived at the Giant Chasm."

The three quieted down to watch the Glaceon.

The Chasm was silent.

It was so quiet that Frost could hear her own heartbeat. The walls, covered with ice, cast an eerie blue glow over the cold, smooth floor. Underneath the thick, clear layers of ice, she could make out the gray rock that held up the Chasm.

The interior was confusing–every twenty yards or so, new tunnels opened, forcing Frost to take one. She picked one and prayed.

Suddenly, Frost stopped. She was sure she heard a noise–the distinctive clicking sound of claws on ice. The Glaceon peered warily into one of the paths in front of her, where a dark figure was emerging from.

An Absol stepped out of the tunnel, all glossy white fur and wicked black blade. Frost practically froze in place.

"Who are you?" it snarled, slinking closer.

"Hi, I'm Frost," said Frost, beaming and turning on whatever social skills she had immediately. Smiles made good impressions, right? "I'm a Scorpio, my favorite color is yellow, and–"

The Absol scowled at her, but its posture relaxed like it just realized this bumbling idiot couldn't possibly be a threat. "Okay, okay. I didn't ask for your whole life story. You're just in my territory."
