land's wrath

Most people are intimidated by the idea of going somewhere new. Usually, being Teleported there by a sketchy but powerful Legendary Pokémon does nothing to reassure them.

Not Levia, though.

Levia had a secret weapon–food.

Even though Mew had dropped her off right next to Terminus Cave, the place Zygarde was said to hibernate, Levia headed straight towards the closest town, Couriway. It was a small town, but it had a market and a bakery, which was more than enough. Fortunately, it took little to no effort for Levia to get away with some day-old pastries and berries. She hauled her new prizes back to the tall grasses in front of Terminus Cave to share with the wild Pokémon there. Within minutes, she was being swarmed, and her popularity hit an all-time high (I bet you thought I was going to make a political joke, but I have no plan on what kind to make. Well, I have concepts of a plan.).

"Holy frick frack," said one particular Fletchling. The motherfucker had eaten six times his own body weight's worth in donuts in the past five and a half minutes. He looked just a bit bloated. Levia was having trouble deciding whether to be horrified or impressed. "This so good...HEURHCHK–"

The bird choked violently on a chunk of donut (chocolate frosting, rainbow sprinkles). Another Fletchling that looked pretty much identical to him shot him a disgusted look. "Please excuse my brother Fred. He hasn't eaten for twenty-seven whole minutes already."

"No, that's...that's fine."

"New here?" asked a Dedenne, nibbling daintily at an Oran. "No seasoned veteran ever offers Fred anything edible."

"Yes, I came here recently. My name is Levia and I'm from Lumiose," said Levia, straightening. "I'm looking for Zygarde."

The wild Pokémon glanced at each other. Then they proceeded to continue stuffing themselves.

"There's no reason to," said Fred, who had stopped choking. His sibling looked at him as if Fred could've died and she would be glad. "We only need them when there's an imbalance between life and death, or whatever."

"Wasn't some kid in Alola gathering all the Zygarde cells? Why don't you go look for him?" asked Fred's sister.

"Don't listen to Fred 2.0. That's old news. That Pokédex holder released Zygarde ages ago. They do pass by sometimes, but super irregularly."

Levia frowned. "You're...also Fred?"

"I'm Fred 2.0," explained Fred 2.0. "Our parents ran out of ideas. Probably since there's eight of us."

"My grandma saw Zygarde here a few days ago," said a young Pumpkaboo, hovering over Levia's shoulder.

"You're grandma is an anti vaxxer," said Fred 2.0. The other wild Pokémon booed in agreement.

The Pumpkaboo glared at Fred 2.0. "She saw them!"

"Your grandma also said she ate a Gyarados," objected a Poliwag.

"So?"

"She's a foot tall!"

"Take that back, you—"

"I'm sure your grandma is really nice," said Levia, cringing. "But is there anything else you can tell me?"

"See? She doesn't want to hear about your grandma."

"Guys."

Fred wiped some crumbs off his face with the back of his wing. "This is where Zygarde hibernated for thousands of years since the first Great War, so of course they would come back here."

Levia kneaded the ground anxiously. "Is Zygarde...cooperative?"

"Hell no. Didn't you watch that crazy man with the bad hair command them? He was all 'Land's Wrath!'. We had aftershocks for months afterwards."
