"Yo," said Mew, turning its tail impatiently. "It took me a whole twenty minutes to hijack your dream, and you took another fifteen minutes to get here. Talk about a questionable sleep schedule. "

Vee eyed the Mythical Pokémon, repulsed. "Oh, it's just you. Again. It's kind of your fault I can't sleep, you know."

"Well, fuck you, too," said Mew, offended. "Whatever. Look, I need a favor."

Vee scowled. "Do I have to? Haven't I gotten enough jobs yet?"

"Good point." Mew had the decency to look a bit awkward. "Uh, last one?"

Vee sat and flicked his ear to signal that he was listening.

"Sird," started Mew, watching the Espeon's eyes narrow at the name. "She caught a Darkrai at some point. It's a Dark-type Mythical Pokémon native to Sinnoh that causes nightmares. Real piece of work."

"What did she do with it?" asked Vee warily.

"Um, actually, you know when she turned all of 'em into stone?" asked Mew nervously. "That. That was Darkrai."

"I fucking hate that woman."

"Yeah," said Mew. "Arceus doesn't like the idea of it wandering around, so..."

"Wait, wait, wait. How will we control it if even Sird couldn't?"

"Keep it near Cresselia, its counterpart. Her power should nullify the energy Darkrai gives off. In theory. I haven't checked yet," said Mew. "Mesprit knows the Pokédex holders in Sinnoh–one of them, Pearl, has a dad–"

"He has a dad?"

"I know, right? Surprising. Anyways, the dad has Cresselia–"

"None of us have father figures; we're main characters!"

"Diamond has a mother, and Platinum has a whole ass family," Mew objected.

Vee sniffed. "All I got were a few scientists that conducted research of questionable legality on me."

"My cousin is a biohazard that fights people with giant spoons," said Mew. "But–okay, that's not my point. What I'm trying to say is that getting Cresselia near you will definitely make catching Darkrai easier."

"It's in Sinnoh!" Vee protested. "And I don't even know these people who have Cresselia!"

"Skill issue," snickered Mew. "Anyway, it's getting boring just hearing you whine. I'm gonna go now. Don't you dare brush this off as a PTSD induced hallucination."

"Wh-"

"Whoopsies, looks like I'm exactly 43 seconds late to my tea party with Hoopa. Gotta go, bye!"

The first thing Vee did when he woke up was to try and brush off that absolutely bizarre dream as a PTSD induced hallucination.

"Dang it," he complained, sitting up. The best he could do was go find Yellow, the Trainer born in the Viridian Forest who could tell what any Pokémon was thinking. She was technically a Pokédex holder, right? Maybe she could contact the people in Sinnoh somehow.

Vee leapt off the sofa and padded to the front door. Psychic wrapped around the door knob and the door tilted open slowly, creaking slightly on its hinges. He glanced back once to make sure no one was bothered by the noise this early in the morning and stepped out into the lawn. The door shut behind him.
